Was just notified that the ATS/Legg org is doing a 500 person surplus. Impacted people will be notified in mid January and will be off payroll by 1/31.

There’s other system folks scattered in business units spending millions with Accenture — why focus on just Legg’s group?

Yes I heard the same. Right before the holidays we get the news. Like clockwork. These people don't even wait until after Thanksgiving. Why even share it today? The only reason, to make people on the fence considering retirement to leave. A bunch of talk about pension and how we may lose 30% or so of our sums if we are fired. I am not leaving. Fire me, at least I get my severance. All after Legg keeps saying we are adding employees. He sent a note today about December townhall and celebration. Unbelievable. These people.

They want to wait until January to flush out those who retire and hence won't have to pay out severance packages to those who leave in 2022.
The actual # will be 800 notices. Based on how many retire will determine the balance of the 800. If only 200 leave, 600 will get notices on 1/15. Legg org expects about 400 to retire, and will plan to layoff the other 400. Reliable source.
ATS is the AT&T Technology Services division of AT&T and Jeremy Legg is the CTO. We heard the news in a meeting this morning with our AVP. There will be 500 layoffs out of 12,000 total (roughly 4%).

Just heard the same - notification mid-January, off payroll end January. My boss said she heard this morning. I'm an L2 individual contributor. Target is 5%. Webphone shows 12,455 employees under Legg so 500 would be about 4%.

What level employee are you? Should L2 expect to hear this or are you at a privileged level of management.
WOW, it's really getting brutal out there! I really feel sorry for those impacted that can't afford to be without a paycheck or aren't prepared in terms of your skill set! Best of luck to all because the impending recession will make it much more difficult to secure employment elsewhere!
