Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

This company is going backwards

I remember pre-covid there was a push towards flexibility and remote work, hence the start of hoteling cubes. Now it’s the complete opposite. They’re setting arbitrary rules that make no sense. The 3 days in office rule is just garbage. When did people ever come into the office pre-covid during thanksgiving week?

And the new stack ranking enforced during performance reviews is ridiculous. If everyone on my team is doing their work, why should someone be categorized below meets just to meet some arbitrary number? Promotions are almost impossible to come by.

Many of the best are leaving. If I wasn’t so close retirement, I’d be looking for a new role. Maybe I’m a long hauler but I still remember when WF leadership treated employees with some decency

WF is doomed, leave while you can. I did, and it's the best thing I've done for my career and sanity.

The company doesn't care about whining, but they should care about morale being in the tank and people doing the bare minimum as a result. The problem with the NYC id--ts is that they don't care about that either. Or customers, or regulators, or anything else. All that matters is tormenting people enough that they leave. That's it. That's the grand strategy. As someone that has worked for WF for over 2 decades I find the actions of these noob execs to be highly offensive. They run the show, so they can do it, sure, but it won't end how they think it'll end. I'll never be ok with this policy, and damn their eyes for pushing it.

@imn. It has been that way in India for years. I had one admit to me they had to go to go to their next job at BoA but he wasn’t supposed to tell anyone. That was years ago and no doubt it is still happening. Probably why tickets go so long without being addressed.

Shouldn’t a company just be hiring all high performers? This ranking stuff is stupid and always has been. You are hired to do a job. You do that job. You don’t compare everyone to each other that aren’t even do the same work.

It is all going according to plan, people are leaving the company every day.

Leadership doesn’t care if it is the right people leaving

Easy fix. 5 days or gtfo. WF is much more flexible than other places of it's ilk. Be grateful for what you have since it is that season. Whining all day won't change anything and it is better than 5 so don't ruin it for the people that have accepted it and making the best of it. 5 days would stink and this is from a FT remote for 12 years, hired as one, had it in writing, and was rescinded. I had a choice and I stayed so I don't complain.

FRTO, everyone that came up with it, and everyone enforcing it. Most backwards id--tic policy ever implemented at WF.

There's more than one tech team member with a full time job at WFC and another full time job at another firm. Wells Fargo is so poorly managed that its totally possible to do all the work for one project in like a day and have 4 free days to work a completely separate full time job. Double pay baby!!!

if you get meets every year and don't feel you are getting the work necessary to go beyond, don't wait for them to give you work, look for opportunities and take initiative, maybe it works out for you maybe it doesn't but you need to advocate for your self. and as for forced rankings, I feel it has gotten somewhat better over the last couple years but if you compare an entire team of meets you can honestly say they are all performing the same? my guess is some are on the higher end of the mean and some are on the lower end.

Ratings have very little to do with your job performance. It's likely that your manager doesn't know the tip of the iceberg of what you do every day. Rating have EVERYTHING to do with how much your manager likes you.

My leadership are complete stooges. Every year I get ‘Meets’. If they hardly ever give me any work, how do I even attain ‘Exceeds’. I look at it from this perspective, if I continue to get my biweekly paycheck, annual bonus, and WFH, I really don’t care.
My full-time WF job has become my side hustle, instead. It’s kind of funny how that turned out.
