Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Perception of the company in the industry

It is quite logical that respected companies tend to hold their value longer. But is Intel as respected by the industry as it used to be? There are more and more people who say that it is not and that the experience at Intel on their resume did not really help them while looking for a new job.

The 90s are over. i told my boss at my new employer that I worked for Intel 22 years and he asked: "What do they do?" I'm not making this up.

I've discovered that having Intel on my resume is more of a curse than a blessing, and when I do finally get my foot in the door somewhere, people are unimpressed when you talk about the company.

In general, outsiders view Intel employees as arrogant, which is a liability.

Intel on the resume is a liability. The higher up you are the more so. The only way senior Intel people get into other companies if the door is held open for them by friends or family… this is how the Intel plague infects the industry.
