Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Change is scary but don't let that stop you

Without any exaggeration, leaving Ford was one of the best decisions I made. I am still in contact with my colleagues who are still there for only one reason, and that is the fear of change. This is completely understandable, but why let fear stop you instead of taking the plunge and going where your efforts will be more appreciated? Is there anyone who left Ford and regretted it? I doubt it.

In a nutshell:

Ford experience

  • OMG this new hire is actually doing work and knows what they are doing - lets all gang up and sabotage their work, bad mouth them and bully them.

Post Ford experience

  • WOW this new hire is doing even better than we expected, lets give them a raise, more responsibility and a promotion to keep them here and happy.

The people sticking around Ford are those who foster and enjoy the Ford experience. They might not all instigate bullying behaviors, but they dog pile on or look the other way as it is the cost of a cushy paycheck just for showing up.

It isn't the fear of change holding employees in place. It's good, easy money! Face it, only 20% of all Ford employees do the real work. 80% do the paperwork, shuffle papers, and are on all the stupid useless committees, just to stay active and keep their face and name out there. No one works for Ford because they love it.. all about the Benjamins!

There is nothing left keeping me here except pay. This wrecking ball strategy of leadership is something I do not understand nor do I want to be part of. The company is facing the worst legitimation crises probably not seen since HF2 took leadership of the company. Ford was lucky then because it was during war time and was essentially given a pass. Now there is competition crawling all over; just looking for the opportunity to strike. We are not prepared for this, the longer we ride this train the closer we get to the inevitable end of the company.

Heya @1qvv, It's fun to see what they're NOT missing ! They like to see that things are better outside of Ford, and this blog certainly reinforces that. Although I read any blogs, whenever I'm done with Ford I too will come back here on occasion to bask in the delight of a different scene ! :)

Strange how so many who claim to have left Ford voluntarily and are so much happier still spend time on a Ford layoff message board.
