Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

BNY Mellon compared to other types of finance or banking jobs

Some claim that working here is much more stressful than working at some of our competitors. Does the majority here think so? I would perhaps only partially agree because I had an even more stressful job before I came here.

I waist 21 year in BNY Mellon. I can say it because now I with different financial institution which first not discriminate woman, second not dissimilate by age, pay much more than BNY was paying and actually pay much better bonus . So at the end I should should be thankful for my separation otherwise I would continue wasting my time until retirement

PNC Bank offers quite a bit more than BNYM in the areas of Healthcare benefits, a no games pension plan, generous HSA, career track planning and visibility into pay and job opportunities.

Most importantly PNC culturally supports a true work/life balance… not at all like the toxicity of BNYM. They truly care about their teams and employees and really do have true work/life balance.

Make it your New Year’s resolution.
For BNYM Pittsburgh residents it’s a no brainer to move to PNC.

I jumped ship a few years ago after a lengthy and unappreciated stint at bnym.

My salary has doubled, my bonuses are now actually performance based, linked to profits and completely transparent.

I'm encouraged to work at a location which suits me.

Culture means something and there is genuine care and investment in getting staff benefits and wellbeing at the top of the agenda. The board are approachable and staff are happy.

The grass is greener.

I worked at PNC and BNY Mellon. They both promote stressful environments. I am working in a different financial organization and they promote remote work and being with family. Promotions within a year of employment. Bonuses and raises in November. They celebrate retirements and actually care about your growth.
