Don't get mad, get even

Guess what company isn't going to get a huge government contract?

What a great idea. Make LR decisions based on petty, petulant personal reasons.

Fixed it for you.

I was laid off from Cisco after working in the Webex segment for over 11 years and landed a government job providing, of all things, Webex managed services. I was bitter about being laid off because it definitely had nothing to do with my performance but rather a vendetta between the new director and the one that hired me. Anyhow, I make more than I did at Cisco and my job is very easy and the environment isn't toxic like it was at Cisco where people wore their title on their sleeves. There are so many fake people at Cisco it's I'm surprised I stayed so long. There is a better life awaiting anyone that leaves Cisco and that's guaranteed! I only hope Cisco doesn't ruin the Webex service and force me to offer a different collaboration service.

That's a problem with routine layoffs. Instead of letting people just leave on their own (with incentives if necessary) you create a large number of people that will never do business with you again.

Considering the tech world is small, many of those people will end up in roles that will have an impact on your business.

It's not hard to get people to leave in a win/win scenario. Many companies have mastered it. But it doesn't feed the ego like laying people off does.

Many people who get fired from Cisco - move on to other companies and government roles.

Afterwards, they refuse to do business with Cisco.

I believe that is what this poster is referencing.
