Ford hints at how to maximize Lightning range in winter

Haha, tuck it in every night in the garage, don't use the heater and always drive slow.

Should have name the truck "F-150 Snowflake."

The suggestions are the result of testing in Michigan and Alaska at temperatures as low as -40 degrees.

1: Park inside as often as possible to reduces its exposure to extreme temperatures.

2: Leave the vehicle-plugged in, which allows it to draw from the home's energy to maintain its temperature without draining the battery.

  1. Use the pre-conditioning feature available if you're planning a long drive.
  1. Rely on the heated seats and steering wheel rather than the climate control system for warmth, as they are more energy efficient.
  1. Leave the cabin heater off or very while the vehicle is charging.
  1. Clean snow off the vehicle to reduce aerodynamic drag, which can have a significant effect on efficiency.
  1. Drive at lower speeds when the temperatures are low.
  1. Keep the tires inflated to the recommended pressures.

Doesn't sound as capable as my gas F150. Why would I want one?

Once his truck got on the flatbed, he got extended range.

replace with super narrow and stone hard tires might help as well.

So I was watching Americas Thanksgiving Parade and I wondered if we would see any Lightings pulling any floats. Didn’t see a one. So that got me thinking, the floats themselves probably aren’t all that heavy (mostly styrofoam) and I think it’s about 10 miles round trip. But I think they start around 5:00am and would likely be idling with the heater and lights on the whole time. So could a Lightning successfully pull a float from start to finish in the parade?

The Lightning is very sensitive. Don't say anything to hurt its feelings. It's feeling left out and wants to be accepted as a "real truck".

Duh, just mount a wind turbine on the roof and recharge the battery as you drive. Now stop wasting my time, I need to get back to vintage racing.

I'll do my part to help FoMoCo! Hey, Car Car - add these to the list:

  1. Drive down hill as much as possible
  1. Try to avoid driving into the wind
