Thread regarding Ford layoffs

30,000+ years of experience leaving Ford and JF loves it.

Ford senior people leaders (SPL) expect 1200+ employees to leave November 30, 2022. They estimate it will be over 30,000 years of experience leaving on one day. JF, JL, and DF think this is a good thing and are actual happy all the "old people" with the "wrong skills" who are "untrainable" are leaving. JF actual told his OCM that every vacant position must be justified to fill, then must try to fill in a low cost country and if it must be US they are to look out side the Company. JF, JL and DF hate and blame all the current LL5 and under for the problems in the Company. I am so very happy to be leaving this sinking ship, I turned in my two recall plagued management vehicles, and I am never buying another PS Ford product.

@2wfo+1jUcRL8J Well, Mr./Mrs. Strategy and Finance, you said "We need software architects". What good is a software without Data? Therefore, WHY the IT infrastructure architects were disbanded and his leader laid off a few months ago? The same architects dealing with the implementation of the factory of the future, IIOT and Edge Data processing (Industry 4.0) standards. How is Ford planning to lead the the Fourth Industrial Revolution by letting the experts go? Or do you expect to sell subscriptions without vehicles and data?

All those MBAs and managers at FMC are clueless, like you. Please continue with your countless spreadsheets and PowerPoint slides filled with the same lies and disinformation, and let the grown ups talk here.

I land somewhere in the middle. I think that the company should be trying to evolve and stay on the cutting edge. But I also believe in my heart that these 'older' engineers could have absolutely transitioned to the new tech and processes.

We are a tech company now, anyway.

All these changes are great.

We don't need old boomer engineers that design engine blocks or oil pumps.

We need software architects and they are all young and like to work remotely. We need to hire them and keep them happy.

And they are all different races and gender identities. That kind of diversity will only help Ford grow!

We need to automate most of our manufacturing to eliminate the lazy workers.

And outsourcing is a smart decision. All the most successful companies have been doing it since at least the Reagan administration. We are just falling behind.

I work in Strategy and Finance. I have prepared countless spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations proving all of this. It's all I do all week! The leadership is finally listening!

I am done with Ford, it is an abysmal company run by a bunch of socialist a** hats. It has lost its emphasis core engineering of quality motor vehicles and has adopted failed project management principles. All these consultants that upper management has contracted and the poor management decisions that spring from these advisors will bankrupt the company. Bill Ford is the chief thief. He is wrecking the local economy.

If bankruptcy happens I hope the creditors, when it comes to their class "B" stock, they tell the Fords they can pound sand.

It is a good thing. Many have been checked out for the last 5+ years. They're stuck as Ford tries to evolve.

If Ford truly wants to improve they need to move on from the olds and restructure the UAW contracts.

Until then it's death by 1000 cuts. Oh and the trucks on the lot so GM doesn't sell 130K more than you.

Yes, they are retiring to protect their pensions. Moreover I’m sure most of them are some sort of LL level.

Those of you still left ( I retired in late April against my will; turned out I was the lucky one as I already have a new job) should buy a vowel and take this as a clue. Leave now before it gets worse, as no one wants to be the last person off the Titanic..

I wander if JF falls under that old and not trainable? I do not see anything impressive he has done at Ford! Toyota people asked how in the he-l he made it to CEO? We will see in 2-4 years if he visions, or plan works. As for DF Like one poster said it, he hops around every 5 years. I guess you ask why? BF well his track record speaks for itself. empty shelf of accomplishments.

When a company that brags of it's diversity, targets older employee to force to leave, they are run by a team of liars and unrealistic, unmanaged management. As a Ford stock owner, I'm ashamed. I'm selling all my Ford stock, because i no longer believe this company is who they say they are.

Same here at ex-FCA core engineering jobs are being shipped to India!
Take my word by 2030 Stellantis will not be around! Jeep will be owned by a new company (again)!
They keep training us on integrity while our head of HR is doing time for fraud!
BTW even in the India office they only have short term contractors that have no idea what they are doing from worse schools in India!
Automotive really sucks I wish I could leave !!

They’re retiring to protect their pension. Simple math. Their experience leaves alongside…. The. envisioned EV world might think the ICE-world is unnecessary as we move forward. I beg to differ.
