Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Another round of layoffs coming in January

For everybody saying RIFs only happen at certain times of the year, remember that we are in a different macroeconomic environment than we were in the last 5 years.

Heads are about to roll.

Its common sense folks...Verizon is not doing well against our competitors...not sure whose the blame, I'm so far down on the food chain I have no idea. However, it appears the leaders of this company have so much money, they can't and cannot comprehend the average person's weekly struggle to survive in this world. Covid changed a lot of peoples lives, and lots have cut back, took lesser paying jobs to cut the stress, thereby cutting back on expenses and needless things. When you can get a FREE phone and a decent plan that is cheaper than Verizon, and the service actually works like its suppose to, and you can reach customer service, you switch. Not sure what Verizon was thinking to increase peoples bill, so many of my friends, family have switched or will when their contract is up...Verizon is NOT the best network anymore...clearly.

Any layoffs would not happen before end of 1st half. Most budgets are built by Oct/Nov of previous year with funding accounting for Head count losses over the year. So with normal headcount leaving most budgets are front ended to cover head count till August. That when the pressure mounts to reduce head count. That process take 60 to 90 days for hr and legal review and approval.

They arent going to wait a year for more Sillimans group, his linked in announcement of his new role, his town hall, and many emails all say in corporate speak less employees. I’ve never seen so many people around me quit and leave all at once. Probably should join them but just one more year if the market doesnt crash.

We have to adjust headcount to increase diversity numbers. Rather than hire a specific race only , we let go of overly represented groups.

T-Mobile US total number of employees in 2020 was 75,000, a 41.51% increase from 2019.
T Mobile is still growing catching up to Verizon and they have a much smaller workforce than us 75,000. So wha'ts the magic number for Verizon?
