Here’s what people who think like you don’t get:

The world has fundamentally changed.

Because of this, I can plan my life in a way that all but guarantees that I won’t be dragging myself to the Exxon offices daily because I need a paycheck. In fact, I don’t need to do so now. The entry-level salary for people with my skill set in my industry exceeds what most of you with 20+ years experience have posted yourselves earning on other threads. That said, many of you are still paid much more than you’re actually worth or ever will be worth.

You’re right in a sense; I will be old someday, but I’ll be much better off than you are once I get there.

In the meantime, start googling your IT questions. I’m done providing out-of-role tech support to silver-haired/balding luddites.

@2eue I don’t owe boomers anything. Neither does anyone else. You’re not performing a service to humanity by existing.

Here’s the good news for everyone: boomers aren’t going to be around forever, or even much longer. Everything you’ve done, everything you’ve imposed; it all goes when you do. In fact, it probably goes even sooner with the tech curve getting steeper every few months. Natural selection will remove you from the workforce, and both Exxon and the world at-large will become a better place.

Boomers: the generation that just couldn’t (or wouldn’t) let go.

Whilst I personally couldn't care less what you think about me being over 50, rightfully Supervision have to be seen to do the right thing, and your behaviour certainly doesn't fit in the right thing box.

@2ped I routinely refuse to provide boomers with so-called “tech support”, which usually entails teaching them how to use their computers. I refuse out loud, to their faces, in clear understandable language, and in the presence of management.

The rest of your comment evinces why people over a certain age should move on; you’ve failed to adapt technologically and culturally. Retire and try your hand at painting. Worked for Dubya.

If you can’t use MS Office then you probably shouldn’t be in the workforce period, unless you want to massage bread sticks and toss salads for Olive Garden.

@OP If you put 10% of the effort into doing your job that you did into making this post, you wouldn’t have to worry about getting put on a PIP to begin with.

@Management: Please PLEASE get these people out of the company faster. They’re making everyone miserable. Just PIP everything over 50 that walks upright and call it a day. Problem solved.
