Musings on the site troll

Any interesting theories about who the (apparently) reactionary mass-downvote troll might be?

Mine is that he’s a disgruntled retiree with an ax to grind about how cultural change has influenced the work force that he’s no longer a part of, but nonetheless has very strong opinions about.

Popcorn tends to be more active at the end of the month when his annuity check has dried up.

@iew Interesting.

What I’ve noticed is that he’s especially active on threads that discuss WFH and D&I. He appears to have a major problem with WFH for some reason. There’s also a pattern of him espousing reactionary cultural opinions and giving affirmative replies to his own posts.

@ikr Not sure why you’d say that. He has a writing style that’s easy to pattern and shows up in his posts. I noticed his pathological online behavior and got curious. Looks like I was in the ball park in the OP.

“Popcorn”

Perfect name for him.

OP, my guess is the massive downvoter is actually you. People who crave attention like to focus as much attention as possible on themselves. Why would you initiate this post? For the very reason I just said.

Popcorn is a low level worker laid off in 2016 who was know for posting obnoxious comments about others and signing of with ROTFLMAO & statements leading like “keep complaining while I make myself some more popcorn”. He brags that he keeps returning after being blocked by the moderators because he figured out how to use a torrent host, like that is a big deal. He logs in again and again liking his own repetitives post and down voting those he disagrees with. He commonly backs himself into indefensible opinions posting stupid stuff and then likes to parrot other folks posts, reversing a meaning by changing a few words, so he does not have to admit he is wrong (childish). He took the advise of some Vanguard advisor to take the annuity, probably because he was so adverse to investment risk the advisor decided it would be a good idea for him, and now goes manic every time there is a lump sum vs annuity discussion. He is a really sad case: almost as sad as the fact that I know all this info;-)
