Long overdue and coming due in the New Year. It’s been a nice three relaxing years.

Grades above won’t be “effected” but they will be affected, which, in effect, will be the impact which you intended to describe.

Got that? There’s never a charge to those with valid University of Phoenix ID Cards.

We’ve been in a zero layoff environment for the entire year and layoffs are are still on hold. It seems to me that the posters on the board incessantly whine about layoffs which are pretty much nonexistent for the past several years.

People here hate raises that don’t keep up with inflation, are frustrated by needing to commute rather than WFH, angry at medical plan cuts and 401K schemes to remove our match, etc.

But for some reason they express it all as “constant layoffs”, which is simply not true. We are in the lowest layoff environment that I’ve ever experienced in my 40 years here.

The last 5 years were the lowest percentage of layoffs ever.

People just want to gripe because this site is called The Layoff.

It’s been another long and relaxing layoff free year. There was an attempt at a 1% layoff way back at the beginning or the year, but it fell apart immediately and turned out to be one small group, less than 7 people.

For those who have been here for 40 years or so, a handful in an aisle is not really a layoff. 2023 was an historically low lay off year.

January 9th will be the first significant layoff in three years.

It’s going to be across the board this January. All LOBs, all layers. Robin’s team been thinking it through all year. It’s going to be wide and deep. Anyone who’s been gaming the RTO will be gone.

Believe me, it will be nothing like this layoff free year that we’ve enjoyed.

@OP

Glad to chime in with a prediction about potential Bank of New York Mellon layoffs.

We had one attempted layoff way back in early January. Our HR botched the layoff and we never did have any layoffs all year. We’re pretty sure that this will go down in the books as the lowest ever layoff year at BNYM. Life was good here this year.

BNYM has no true Vision. Lost its way 10 years ago.

Heard the same. About 10% in the I to lower range in the next month. Not sure if grades above will be effected.

The number is around 10%. At least that's the target in my department. Gonna happen beginning of January. And not a rumor, i was forced to help compile a list even after I argued we didn't have enough people to cut. Basically was told too bad. Whether or not they toss the whole list I don't know but a list was demanded from management.

Nonsense, the package is extremely good. Even non-performers who should rightfully be terminated with cause generally get the package unless the issues were egregious in nature. It’s so good that it keeps people here and the longer you’ve worked here the more you want it.

Does anyone knows which departments or organization impacted, if there's layoffs in January?

New Year, same old rumors. If even a 10th of the rumors come true it will be more than the last 5 years total since Charlie’s 2018 August massacre.

Let’s celebrate Todd’s Good Times and not quake in te---r.

Don’t we all secretly really want the layoff?

Count yourselves lucky if they give you a package. This company does not treat their employees good and they do not appreciate them. BE, sh---y raises and bonuses if you're even lucky to be eligible for one.

I left a few months ago and can confirm the targets for the new year were very high. Obscenely high. Things might have changed since I left however. Level j here or was
