My manager finally said something about days in the office. She has been cool and not babysitting us but today she told us it is being closely monitored now by higher ups.

We didn't use RTO compliance for ratings or compensation this year.
Managers are allowed to use RTO compliance for performance ratings, but are not required to in my group.
Wait! @1zsj+1jWpONWy what is this "mad push to make everyone a "meets" about?
And they have already made up their minds on these even though there is 30 days left in the year.
That's funny. Countless times I've asked tech to do something that will take just a few minutes and they take forever to get it done. Must be too busy doing useless things for execs all day.
They have to go after bonuses, because the mad push to make everyone a "meets" regardless of performance makes the threat of poor RTO 'performance' resulting in ratings no higher than meets an empty threat. Cutting bonuses is the only tool in their tool box.
They didn't need to build a monitoring and reporting infrastructure. It was just setting up some search queries of existing collected logs and using existing tools to make a live dashboard and setting it up to send out daily reports to a few on a list.
That is just a few days worth of work for one individual to do.
Reliable source says number of days in the office will be a factor in bonus payouts. Since most people who must be in the office are not bonus eligible - call center, branches - using the RTO compliance as a stick for those who can WFH is their ticket. There’s also no guarantee for bonuses so it’s easier for them to ding it without causing themselves issues.
Currently an employee and we had to look at ratings and compliance to 3 days a week in office. If we didn't make a strong case, non-compliance was supposed to lower the performance rating. This is obviously not being enforced across the company.
No, those are the heros in this situation. Everyone else is a bootlicker or an exec.
Good I hope it goes back to normal. I’m trying to buy a house in the country and the WFH people have destroyed the rural market the past 2 years.
Houses have more than doubled in value since then.
No money for employees or Technology, but let's build a whole monitoring and reporting infrastructure. Executives don't even trust their middle managers!
It's not the 3 days that they are concerned about. It's about the people that aren't coming in at all. So those are the folks that will ruin it for everyone else.
Yup, they’re paying us middle managers six plus figures to babysit people, it’s great
How about we just have clear goals and hold people to them instead of worrying about this nonsense?
I now work at another institution, and it is being heavily monitored here, as well. Must do at least three days in.
Expert insight, thanks so much!
