Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Do you think that attrition will increase after the cuts?

I have heard from many people that they do not intend to stay here for much longer, even if they survive all this, if they have to take on the extra work of LRd people.
There is no doubt that survivors will be overwhelmed more than ever, but I still doubt that attrition will be significant considering the market. Perhaps I'm wrong.

I'm leaving. Have an offer on hand! Stay positive and get out of the internal bullsh-t narrative!

Depend on job market. If there are alternates, why stay under high stress.

On the other hand, if job market is very cold, then, what are alternates?

I think it will. My younger self would wait for the storm to pass then interview outside as much as possible till I get two or three options. Now I'm 49 and make a good living here so no rush. If a headhunter approaches me, I'll bite though. Constant layoffs destroy employee loyalty.

LR'd now five years ago and honestly was probably one of the best things to lead to good change and growth in both work and home life.

I am thankful so much for my fortunate good run at Cisco, but now looking back, also so glad it is over.

I did not realize how truly miserable I was there, most of the time, but no one else was to blame for that. I did not have the strength or will to take control of my life.

Control of your life means actually not controlling anything; it is actually the realization that we control little of life's direction.

Once you loose a few jobs, a few relationships, and a few family members with their passing with age; then one more and more will realize not much of this all matters. One of the best things we can strive for is to simply be there and try to help others that simply need help at a critical moment; and to try to strive for an inner peace realizing that this will all be over someday, for all of us, so try to enjoy what we can.

The market is actually fine. I got fed up and started looking and there’s tons of opportunity out there.

I've been told that I'm on the list. Part of my job is to support a very large and profitable area. I work more than 10 hours a day and most weekends. It is complex work that will be difficult to transfer to another person.

Someone is going to be overwhelmed.

It is 4000 out of 83000 people. No one is going to be overwhelmed

No. If anything this motivates people who want to stay. Leave if you want

You're asking this question like this is a new phenomenon at Cisco. In case you haven't been paying attention, this whole dog and pony show has been going on for well over a decade.

The people who complain the loudest are the same people who are hanging on for dear life. Some people just love to be miserable and Cisco makes for an easy boogeyman to fit the narrative.

"It's not my own fault that I'm miserable, it's all because of that big, bad, mean company that I'm forced to work for!"

Odds are high there will be a lot of attrition on top of LR. Anyone being proactive and job hunting before the notification date will probably leave if they get a better offer (which they prob will).

Got about 2 more years before I retire. No other company would take me, too damn old. I will just ride it out here at Old Cisco.

If you want to increase your earnings and are not lazy, then focus on leaving for a better opportunity and stop listening to the ELT brainwashing

There aren't many companies other than ServiceNow or Boeing that respect Cisco on your resume anymore.

Everyone I work with is actively working on leaving.

It's not just the expected increased work load, it's the concern that the ELT has lost its collective mind.

Trumpeting a layoff during an ER, then making people wait to find out if they are being let go, has triggered a great deal of bewilderment.
