Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How are Contractors treated at Wells Fargo?

I have a possible interview at Wells Fargo for an IT position. How are IT contractors treated by Wells Fargo?
I've been in contracting roles before and know how it works. You just do your work assigned and don't get involved with company drama or BS.
It's a long-term contract with the possibility of extension or direct hire.
So I can make an informed decision, any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Be careful. Was hired to supposedly do a job. Other people were hired as contractors alongside me with NO skills, but were buddies or selected by the hiring Manager to be trained (by me), although that was never communicated. Many of them are not seasoned corporate people. At the end, you know you're expendable and the person you coached is going to get the full-time job. After spending a long time learning your skillset, it's sad to see WF doesn't honor that but instead chooses people that never had the initiative to learn things themselves. It's also a waste of corporate resources and $. In Tech you might have a better chance.

Not very well. Seen some managers go on ego trips with contractors that they can't do with FTE. Depends on the manager. If they can get a job at another company & have viable skills, that's good. If WF is the only company that would employ them, good luck!

I was a contractor for a while and it is okay. Depending on your manager it can be good or bad but at the end of the day you are disposable.

I have a friend that was an HR contractor. They made her go to the downtown office despite multiple locations near her. She was the only person in that office.
It all depends on who is making the calls.

Contractors I work with are happier than employees

treated the same as long as they still need you around for whatever you're assigned to. But the second your assignment is up, they will terminate you on the spot as they don't follow the same regulations requiring notice, severance, etc.

Depends on the group. One manager said the holiday cookies weren’t for contractors after I had eaten one so I said I could throw it up. Avoid wholesale or commercial banking. That’s where The Cookie Comment occurred. Most other lines of business or technology is fine.

It honestly depends on the area you go to. Some managers are great and other managers are incompetent (combined with bad attitudes - it always seems to be this combination). However, employees (aside from the aforementioned toxic manager type) treat contractors very well. It's a roll of the dice in all honesty.

we have a contractor on our tech team and they are treated well. they complain regarding pay--I tell them--its worse if you're an FTE--yet safer than FTE
grass is not always greener, right?

treated fairly well, from what I understand. However, it really depends on the department.

As a contractor, you're more expendable than Russian infantry.
