Under whose leadership did Verizon thrive? Or did Verizon always suck?

Being in wireless when Denny was in charge was fantastic.

Yes, he used the GTE pension fund as accounting fudge for the first year "merger" books, and then turned around and robbed many in that plan of their full pension.
Vz went to s#!t after the Vodaphone buyout in 2014
@2jxa+1jZkLDBL I'm OP.
Truthfully, I'm not sure. I can see why people are picking Ivan but I wouldn't go that far as to say that his leadership was Verizon's Golden Age.
The more important question is who caused the sh-t show we are living through now? That Fickle Finger of Fate belongs to Lowell McAdam. Poor decision maker who spent billions we didnt need to - buying the remainder of wireless from Vodaphone at the all time high water mark, the Yahoo debacle. He even went forward after the potential dollar impact of the breach came out. “Oh, we’ll be on the hook… No big deal - we mint $$$”. Need a new culture? Let’s hire the guy who drove 2 companies into the ground and somehow didnt get arrested for the bribery scandals. If you see him crossing the street, take your eyes off the road and run his a-s over.
Ivan wasn't a wireless guy. He is the brains behind FiOS. He is the guy who stuck it out when the bean counters were saying it wasn't having a fast enough ROI. Of course history has proved him to have been right but then the next guy threw all the investment towards Wireless and here we sit all junked up with all kinds of wireless debt and stagnant wireline. Makes you crazy.
Ivan's tenure also coincided with the golden era of wireless in general. It was a booming market back then. I wouldn't be looking to 75 year old to lead into the future.
Ivan was the best for sure in the post-2000 world. e may need to bring in someone like Michael Capellas to fix this boat so maybe someone else can keep it afloat or acquire to if they have some long-term vision. Or buy it for parts and scrap the rest.
Ivan Seidenberg is 75 now. Would he be interested in coming back to Verizon. I for one would get on that ship to rescue the company. Mr. Seidenberg: Verizon & the telecom industry needs you!
Op, Tell us what you think?
Cellular One
Chuck Lee
World Economic forum and McKinsey tenured employees just brought us the golden age. You just don’t appreciate.
Seidenberg is the creep who stole pension and retiree health benefits from management employees, he played that splicer helper stint for all it was worth too
Alexander Graham Bell
Ray Smith for the win
Not even close - Ivan for sure. The wireless CEO's and now Hans has been laughable
Not sure, but it sure tanked hard and looks like a company in serious trouble
Verizon never had a golden age. It’s an amalgamation of RBOCs.
Denny...hands down
If you noticed, he was the last Jewish leader at Verizon. Just saying the company has very few Jewish employees anymore.
Ivan
We all concur. Seidenberg. and then, Dec 2011 was when he was replaced by a really pathetic man named "Lowell". So, VZ started to fall in Dec 2011 to the depths it's currently at now.
Ivan Seidenberg. It's been a slow decline since with each CEO worse than the last.
