Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The pay is not worth this much stress

There is just no way to reduce this amount of stress and release tension after a hard day of work here. I love my job, but most of the time I feel exhausted.
Is the pay worth it? - I don't think so.
Do the majority of people who left have lighter workloads in other companies even though they are compensated better? - I think that is very common.

Yesterday was great went to the office to the incredibly cr---y setups for 8 hours in the office and then came home and worked another full day to try and catch up. Heck if I coupd get away woth accomplishing less I’d love to go to the office but deadlines.

When I used to go to the office everyday I could shutdown and leave it there. Now my home is my workplace and I can always work and it is expected in my group. WFH might be good in some roles but I’m sick of sending myself emails when I wake up at night because I can’t escape even in my sleep.

Sometimes it is worth the stress. The grass is always greener is a misnomer. Allot of VZ left and came back over the years, so either they loved the stress or the pay and benefits outweighed the green pastures.

When the book first came out my manager at GTE gave the whole team “Who Moved My Cheese”. Maybe I should have read it :-) and I wouldn’t have trapped myself here and destroyed my health and wasted so many years.

The stress that this company puts on you has a DIRECT effect on your health. It is not worth it. Read, "Who Moved My Cheese" and then move on, you will be glad you did. I know I was much happier and healthier after I did.

Go out on stress leave very simple go to your therapist. There is never any stress I make it very clear to my manager. When you stress me I will go out after 15 years in the company you get 9 months full pay on disability. I take that time to talk to.my therapist about everything at verizon. 23 years in so far life could not be better take care of yourself first.

This company is so out of balance. The managers are stressed out and the union workers just show up and collect a paycheck. I’ve done both and I will say that both sides are not very rewarding if you’re in operations. It’s an assembly line mentality…. Just collect your pay check and find something else valuable to do with your time

Not sure what you mean, oh wait, you must be non union. Answer is easy, join the union, we have zero stress, just lots of naps. Oh never mind, union jobs at Verizon are impossible to get.☹️

Nobody is working hard at this company. Look at your peers. Maybe 15 hours of work a week. Meetings about meetings and filtering a google sheet
