I never thought I’d see such an obvious admission of surrender as I saw today with the change to vacation policy. Has management completely given up and isn’t even trying anymore? Basically admitting there are hordes of people waiting to quit in January. Pathetic.

This isn’t a out getting people to quit, this is setting the stage for the drastic headcount reductions in high cost countries that they want to offset with headcount in low cost countries. This will allow them to minimize unofficial severance. If people quit because of this it is just a bonus. Welcome to Dollar General Oil, your low cost provider.

Exec 1: I bet you cannot get more employees to quit in December than in January
Exec 2: Hold my beer while I change vacation allotment
What changes?
Policy aimed at tenured employees who tend to be more expensive.
It is disgusting to watch. Rather than just doing a layoff to cut headcount they are apparently testing how low they can go on employee compensation and still run the business. Until their own compensation is impacted expect them to keep cutting.
