Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The only known rule for avoiding layoff:

  • Always do your best,
  • acquire new skills,
  • and as soon as you feel that your personal growth is stagnating, look for an opportunity in a better company where you will be able to continue growing your skillset.

I can't think of another way to avoid getting laid off, and there was never much logic here when it comes to cuts.

Nose Browning is the only skill that matters when your boss can't tell the difference.

Since 2016, Intel has used AI in the most inefficient manner when calculating layoffs, which has gotten rid of talent and kept those who are new or useless. Pat despises everyone other than Engineering, but Sales and Marketing the most. I imagine the AI will be targeted there. With all his cronies brought back in IT, it seems they want to dismantle IT. They need to quickly update their résumés.

Most companies have a hiring freeze right now.
You should have been looking for a job months ago when we could ALL see this coming.

The best thing to do right now is to start interviewing and preemptively get a job offer before the layoffs. If you’re lucky, you’ll have an offer in hand and also get a nice severance.
