Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

This says it ALL

From previous post:
“cut 6% of their budgets. They could do that any way they chose. People or discretionary spend.”
History with Dell easiest way to cut cost is cut people easier for the dept brass they do not have to try and figure out where to cut budget . Just get the spreadsheet ready with the list of your employees with their ages and job grade. Problem solved older employees cut . Until next request and spreadsheet.
Very very sad, and unfortunately very very true.
It will come from the Senior VP,VP you are under in the org chart. Your direct supervisor will be told cut the following people with no input from your supervisor and it won’t be negotiable even if there is work for the employees being cut .

The reason there is no WARN is that most everyone was classified as a remote employee 2 years ago. They knew what they were doing when they gave you that $750 for home office supplies.

Ageism has a a lot to do with who gets cut at Dell.
I was I8 job grade about 1/4 into the pay band only at company 2.5 years
63 years old laid of and cut along with 2 other in my group I8 grade and also 60 + years of age the 3 of us in our group were the only 3 cut.
Manager said he had no input and no negotiation of who was being cut was informed by Senior VP that it was a business decision to cut cost.
At unemployment office during initial orientation meeting they said Dell is currently letting older employees go and not filing any WARN and they said don’t know how they are getting away with it without being in news.

I don’t think age matters to them. Pay does. If higher salaries are typical for older employees who have been there a long time I think they get targeted. It just may look like age-based targeting when it’s really about dollars.

Not going to happen. Dell is a safe space and welfare state for MBAs and Managers who love Power Points.

6% nothing. More like 60% needed. Start with Bloated MBA's then the so called whatever Managers who only know to create Power Point Charts.
