Let me explain.
Gentrification is the process whereby the character of a poor urban area is changed by wealthier people moving in, improving housing, and attracting new businesses, typically displacing current inhabitants in the process.
"an area undergoing rapid gentrification"
The process of making someone or something more refined, polite, or respectable.
In the case for Ford Motor Company, management thinks the "car people" are ruining the company. They believe if you simply fill the roles with folks who have a Silicon Valley mindset, everything will take car of itself.
They believe with the presence of folks who talk / look / act like Silicon Valley types, investors and customers will be drawn in and the character of Ford will transform (and profits will move in a positive direction). Ford is not Tesla. Tesla does an incredible amount of end-of-line systems engineering. They put a lot of folks on fixing the product after it has been produced. Even so, the finished product is not that great. There are quality issues. The Tesla customer seems to generally overlook the poor quality because they are getting a feature-rich and perceived style-rich product.
