Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Any actual layoff news?

Seen rumors swirling but nothing substantial. Any thing else coming up?

“Losses in lump sum pension are false. The lump sum went down because interest rates went up. So you need less money to achieve the same financial result. The higher lump sum assumed that you would not be able to make a good return on the money when invested in lower risk areas.”

So the 20-25% drop in my lump sum is imaginary? Good to here I’ll be able to make up that difference with higher interest rates. LOL And to think I was worried, I may just hold off retiring now. You may make up that difference in the long term emphasis on may! But that 20/25% hit right out of the gate is significant and is a rather poor analogy to make

There are literally thousands who would take an enhanced offer of 5/5 & $10k per year of service. ATT knows this and will make the offer. Take it to the bank.

There isn't a chance on this good green earth that this would ever happen! You're just saying this cuz you're hoping some T executive sees this! Been with T for around 39 years and have never seen an offer like this and never will! Dream on, little man, Dream on!

Your lack of financial acumen is embarassing. No wonder AT&T has to pay off so many resources.

HR has no idea of how many they need to let go. They do not have the ‘secret sauce’

Im not walking for free. I will recuperate loses in lump sum pension by getting severance pay. And maybe I can stick longer than 1st Qtr of 2023. It is a lottery but worth the risk.

Love the package drivel. No one is paying anyone to leave anymore. They just show you the door.

The word out of Dallas is that once the contractual layoff limit has been met, an offer will be made to CWA represented occupationals. Don’t have the exact numbers yet but it will be a substantial offer designed to achieve a significant force reduction.

Construction and Engineering has already announced that there will be surplus 1st quarter 2023. They just don't know how many until they see how many are retiring.

No layoffs news is a good news. Another day and another dollar on my pocket.

2022 is another 2021. 2023 will be another 2022. That is all.

Only news of the year was Business Wireline. They want to do something, they don't know what it is, but they want to do something. Hear something at work, then check here and see if someone is talking about it. Don't come here to hear something new.

I need a lot to retire at the end of the year so I can keep my job next year. Some of us actually want to keep their jobs and aren’t unhappy all of the time.

Enjoy the down time right now. Looks like 2023 will be one for the record books. A big indication of how bad things will be comes next week with Q3 results. So late in the year, T is in a position there is no recovery plan. Not good times ahead for all. Good luck and be safe out there.

They will see how many leave by year end then review how many need to go in Q1 2023.
Why would they pay people to go when a lot will walk for free.
