Maybe it’s just me but ever since I got to WF I cannot believe the ineptness of management and so many of the long hauler employees that are duds. Adding insult to injury the diva mentality and passive aggressiveness if not just outright anger amongst the ranks is striking to say the least. Not all but many and it makes it a toxic place to be. Sad to be a part of this farce of a Company.

Sounds like poor leadership in my opinion. I’ve had supervisors/leaders who fostered an excellent work Environment. I’ve had supervisors in my opinion who don’t have the experience to lead or manage a team of people. Happy for those who are in a good situation. I’ve seen the best and worst of both worlds with this company. I found that WFH works the best

Oh! The great memories of cross-selling. I was on fire during those times. Now I’m just a smoking ember. No thanks to the Executive stooges trying to turn customer service representatives into high-powered sales people at the branches. I’m still furious about the millions of fake accounts that were opened. There’s nothing wrong with being a one stop shop and being able to offer your clients all the services they could possibly use. Supermarkets, Walmart and Amazon, do the exact same thing.
Some of us don’t want to have dozens of logins/passwords to different sites of financial services. It will be interesting to see how much more whittling CS does to this company. I miss the good old days of sell sell sell…
Happy that your departure ended up making you more money. Some of us just need to have money coming in, And since we’re already here, we just stay. We’re here because we’re trying to find ourselves, perhaps? Friends and family used to snicker when they saw me, because they knew I was working for this company At the time scandals broke the news. I want to thank this company for allowing me to live the good life, now. Like MrBeast on YouTube, I broke the WF algorithm. I learned to play the WF game and I find myself winning.
So, when you join this company, you determine what you want to get accomplished regardless of everyone else working here. Some of those divas and duds may have been star employees at one time. Or, maybe, someday, they will be star employees, again.
I was with First Union, then the Wachovia merger and then the buyout from Wells during the fire sale of 2008. The first thing I noticed about the Wells crowd coming in is that there were no oversights, policies and procedures. The leadership would appoint heads of business just out of personal favoritism for I remember the first head of WellsTrade was more interested in numerology and knew nothing of running a brokerage office. Then followed another from the California contagion and so forth who were not qualified yet were handpicked more so out of the west coast buddy network.. All you have to read about is the prior merger with Norwest Financial, who actually had more assets than Wells but they kept the Wells name. Eight years after that merger there were still power fights between Minneapolis and San Francisco that was mean and ugly. As long as this bank is based out of San Francisco, the corporate atmosphere will mirror that of the City by the bay.. Glad I left when I did on my terms and before the fake account scandal hit for the " Eight is great" cross selling mentality was a corporate vision year after year. Lots of division leaders today embraced that mentality only to propel them to the top of the ladder in their respected divisions.
I was a long hauler like @ihc and I worked hard and embraced change and finally was working with a (mostly, except for the product owner) wonderful agile team. Then came Charlie and then came the idea that at least 30% of the team needed to get poor ratings and they drew my name. Gave me a cr-p rating and that was enough for me. Like the Long Hauler @ihc, I could accept all the ineptitude of management and the divas in mortgage credit policy who had zero clue about how to support the business, contribute to a project or do any work on time EVER. But once they stopped respecting the hard work I was putting in, I finally got mad enough to quit. Should have left years ago. I am much better off and make more money because I was worth more than WFC ever knew. Fu
Yes. The option to leave is a choice, but if you examine your whole compensation package, some would be leaving behind a fortune of severance.
This individual is now or finally, realizing that this company employs a variety of individuals. Everyone has a story. At least we have this site to be able to share our stories. Or, for that matter, share some fun fiction…
I guess there's always the option to leave. Every company of this size has their share of duds and divas. You come across as a diva coming on this site, whining like you're God's gift.
I think I’ve tried it all during my term with this company. I played overachiever. I played dud. I played diva. I even exercised passive aggressive behavior. I played the role of a mature responsible adult.
All in all, I’m just one cog in this big engine. I’m stuck between the divas and the duds.
Regardless, I can be relatable. I can commiserate with both the divas and the duds. Some of us need variety.
In retrospect, I should’ve joined a start up company. I had more passion and drive to succeed. Now, I’m an old long hauler dud, who was once the subject matter expert of rotary dial phones…
I’m a long hauler. Never thought I’d be a dud. Unfortunately, I can only excel as much as our leadership allows me to in this company. For example, step into my shoes. At the beginning, you’re hired to do a specific job because of your specific skill set, next, you get a phone call you’re being transferred to another team with a new direction and job duties. The company begins throwing more obstacles in your way, making it difficult for you to do your job. Your compensation continually changes, but you still keep making a lot more money. Eventually, you begin looking for other positions within the company, only find out they all pay less than your current position. You know if they lay you off, you’ll get a huge severance, almost equal to your annual salary. So, you continue to play this cat and mouse game of quietly being fired and quietly quitting, just waiting each other out. It’s really no skin off your nose as you are WFH and every day is PTO, and you’re not miserable because day after day is literally a vacation. Even better, since you have all this free time now, you’ve been able to focus on the things that really matter like managing your financial situation, family and friends, and your interests. Finally, it’s been so long since you’ve really done any work that you really don’t feel like working, anymore. So, you continue collecting the so-called paid retirement and meet the minimum requirements of conference calls and required knowledge on demand courses.
I’ll accept some of the blame for my situation. Though, I’ll shift some of the blame to the company when they have had ample opportunity to lay me off or fire me. If they despise me, as much as I think they do, what gives? What in the H E L L are they waiting for? Perhaps, they’re planning on changing the severance rules so that we don’t get anything. Then, that’s when they’ll show me the door?
So, don’t lay all the blame on the long hauler dud. We’ve just been in the battlefield longer than you. Some of us might be shellshocked from the policy changes, mergers and scandals. All of this really does tarnish the soul. I know.
