Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

If lp and rk still have jobs after this

You’ll know they’re not serious about turning the company around and just want to get rid of high cost geo workers. He-l all of FM should be let go and moved to Gdańsk.

All Product groups in Intel are not up to the mark, whether in US or EU or Asia. Remember the Atom fiasco when billions and billions went down the drain but Intel could not come up with a low power chip?

Remember the Infineon acquisition in Germany which also drowned billions but could not come up with a 5g modem?

There is a systemic issue in hiring talent and getting the best from hired talent.

There hasn't been a leadership product from Intel in a decade or more.

Rk is just a slightly more competent version of MR and should be shown the door just as MR was.

FM would be so lucky to get a chance to move to Gdansk. It is a very nice city compared to the sheethole FM is.

all those long hours

where do you see this? I am not even sure my US colleagues put in 40 hours/week

My experience is that the US work hard culture somehow does not end up resulting in strong results. I often wondered where is the output from all those long hours. Perhaps the only thing it results in is a bad life work balance. Is it all about perceptions towards managers?

EU certainly cannot cost 8-10x. That's quite a ridiculous multiplier. And it definitely cannot be generalized between different EU countries. My anecdotal evidence suggests it is likely still below 1x, even in higher cost EU Geos given the disparity in base pay in the US favor. I know since I was entertaining a relo option at one point and base jump was like 1.8x after currency conversion.

EU has the most lazy labor laws. When you visit europe you realize how entitled some of the folks are. Then go look at US, where folks are geniunely working hard. Then go to China, where people are moving so fast and just slogging.
I cant imagine how any EU origin company can ever compete at international level.

Wall St is in no mood to give the company a Pat on its head.

EU costs 8-10x more due to massive vacations and liberal family leaves. Just count the lines of code your EU colleagues write compared to Asia. And BS excuse about "quality".
