Funny this is up i just went through something very close to this.

I reached 40 hrs. By thursday. I called out sick that friday thru tuesday. (Was actually sick)

So because they because felt that i called off on friday. Because i was pi---d off for working a 14hr day. And didnt work the 5th day. The tried to steal my pto hours even tho i was at 40. And tried to tell me it company policy that u must work 5 days a week. N hit 40 hrs and that they can force you to work more than that. So they tried to do t-t for tat n take my hours after. Reading policy. And calling my new. Dm out on it. Than he finds him self sending me a coaching email of his expections and absenteeism lol

Than because they fired people without replacing them that its my fault. That they couldnt get coverage. Fu----g joke

But i got my hours back. After calling his bs

Problem with this company is that we have to many brown nose yes man

In company policy. You only required to work 40 hrs you dont not have to work five straight days if you got your 40 and you do not have to work ot. If your pressured or if they try to punish u by taking hours etc. Report them to it tonthe next level. These dm make shyt up as they go along. This company is very wide open for a lawsuit. And needs to be audited for stealing people time money. And i have proof with email and texts.

On a holiday week, work 32 hours and not a minute more…you will not be paid OT from 32-40hours. Leave the route….They are abusing you! Sincerely,

They will continue, until they can't, and only "we" can change this by OUR behavior, not THEIRS.
Ask for a written policy on how this is to be handled, put them on the spot and make them put the policy in writing..."what happens if you hit 40 hrs prior to the end of your regularly scheduled work week?". "Is this policy across the board, all employees must adhere?". "How should we handle a situation when this occurs?". Make them put everything in writing. They will continue to sc--w people until we push back.
Kudos to the employees of Starbucks and Amazon who have capitalized on the current work environment and used this opportunity to unionize! Safety in numbers. Let our DM answer to a union steward....hahahahaha.

If they are scheduling you for the extra time and not paying you, time to take it outside the company. Document everything.
