Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

End of free parking at EMHC?

Does anybody know anything about this? I heard the idea is being considered as part of the benchmark studies. Chevron has been charging for parking for their downtown office for years now.

The campus is not downtown you f-ing troll OP. And all the other comments are also from trolls who probably have no idea what a hydrocarbon is.

Buh-bye.

I doubt this will happen, but since it is an utterly asinine idea, it probably will.

As I ride out my time until I pay off my house and my children finish school, I have had a strict rule to spend absolutely no money on or at work. For the last few years, I have been denied raises, accommodation for taking care of an elderly parent, and understanding when I had an unfortunate accident (away from work).

Meanwhile, people in my group have been quitting and no one is being replaced. Their duties are being given to those remaining and many of us are scrambling to get it all done. Add this to all the erosion of benefits, and I decided I am doing anything or spending a cent on anything that will benefit the company in any way above & beyond my job. I don’t buy anything on campus (no lunch, items at the Wave, or any stores on campus). I won’t contribute to United Way. I don’t wear any promotional material and I won’t go to their dentist or eye doctor. Nothing. The company uses their employees for good press while taking advantage of them. I’m done with it.

I will gladly patronize these businesses outside of work and I’ll volunteer outside of the company, but I’ll never do anything extra to benefit the company in any way. That includes parking.

Perhaps I should pay to use my hot-desk too. And chair.

They don’t pay me enough to charge me to park in the garage!

There isn’t even enough people at EMHC daily to fill one garage, let alone three.

Chevron downtown has a finite amount of parking and shares with other companies.

EMHC is on private property with ample parking. I would think this is a d-mb rumor. However, if they lease to other companies after they consolidate everyone into half the buildings, you might see it.

I always joked and said the only thing left was to make the employees pay to work there ha!

Probably some HiPo thought of the idea. There will be an implementation plan and team put into place. It will result in cost savings and he/she will get promoted as a result of the brilliant idea.

Maybe the plan is to force bussing or mass transit thereby controlling the work day start and end time closer. Don't , laugh this is already happening at some GBC locations

Next they will charge you for printing or to visit the IT help desk.

You hotshots can give up a couple of bucks each day to pay for covered parking. Give me a break and quit trying to feed off this great company.

Who decides on all these stupid ideas and justifies them? Unless it’s furthering the master plan to have people quit…just id--tic.

That might be the last straw for me.

Lol the difference being that's a downtown office where presumably Chevron doesn't own enough parking spots for all that work there. I had to pay for parking when I worked at Bell st, but at least that sorta made some sense given the parking situation there. Park and ride was always an option back then too.

Charging for parking on campus on the other hand seems monumentally d-mb, so I'd assume there's a really high chance we end up doing it. I guess then I'll have to get my mom to drop me off.
