Put In Your 40 Hours & Leave

You all need to start thinking like a business. Don’t work for free. Will a plumber or mechanic work for free? Of course not, neither should you.

I am a former contractor they converted to perm. Been in multiple industries & roles.

First off T does not pay well. They pay tolerable but that’s it. Their benefits are mediocre at best.

Benefits are just a form of compensation. Every time they take something away you just took a pay cut.

Regardless, do your 40 & leave. NO FREE OT. Don’t be stupid.

This company is in play. They are going to cleave the headcount in half & probably be sold.

As for all the corporate boot lickers. You be you. There is life outside of telco.

I’m in the 35 to 40 hours a week range. Have been here for a couple years.

I assume most of people commenting here are not union!
I have 24 years as bargained for tech and I can assure you that we have half of the crew here that barely put in 8 hours a day of honest work!
Some of these idi0ts barely do 4 hours and that's just because they are too $tupid to read a print to do the job right!
I am know my number will be up in a few years because T is trying to do away with us but at least I know when that will be!
lower level management should try and get unionized its the only way to keep them from doing whatever the he-l they want with you!

I’m guilty of working 60-80hr weeks and never charging OT (non-exempt manager). Those days are done starting 1/6.

“ ‘If they start demanding more time, smile & say you have commitments outside of work. What can they say?”

If you are in management, you be told you are fired.

I don't think an 8x5 mentality is going to work out. Low morale, reduced staff, and raised expectations, all while mgmt is pressured to rate people lower, just means 8 hours of misery per day, not skating. It's a survival game at all levels, including Jason and Jeremy (who are toast if BSSe doesn't get 10M wireless subs on it this year).

Evaluate the environment that's in front of us, and put your efforts where it'll bring you and your family the most benefit, prosperity, and peace.”

Just kickback & relax. Do your job at speed 0. Just do enough not to get fired.

If they start demanding more time, smile & say you have commitments outside of work. What can they say?

I drive a van to the office. Park in the parking garage, chip the door and then back to my van. I have a table, chair, couch, tv and can hit the Corp wifi from the garage. I have the best private office there is.

Everyone I know is of the same mindset, when their flexibility is gone mine is too. 8 and skate, it can wait.
