Big layoffs soon?

Heard that from my coworkers.

Ok wow. Can’t you guys see that this person is just throwing dates out there just to see who questions it knowing there’s no real date?

So much for the bozo who threw out Jan 7 earlier in this thread. Haven't heard of any layoffs today.

@q2+1jgm5yth1 - I wish YOU were my manager. Know I could count on you to put me on "The List". (heck, i'd even contribute to your kid's college fund if you could swing it)

And @r4+1jgm5yth1 - so this Bank's Management is So Stupid that they'd rather keep paying me $350k+ year-after-year -- plus, give me a 6 week Sabbatical every 5 yrs -- to avoid an 18-month severance + 6-mo unemployment....?

Can they even do Basic Math?

Can't make this stuff up.

They could reap millions if they simply offered a golden handshake buy out of tenured professionals who have literally given their life to this place over decades instead of their evil strategy to make us miserable until we leave for free.

(vs the Quarterly Accounting hoops they jump thru to make this place "profitable" in the absence of any bona fide "earnings growth")

The problem with that and the reason that rarely happens is employees with 20-25 years cost the bank alot of money to layoff. As much as the long term would love the 18 months off with full pay plus 6 months of unemployment the bank is not excited by that.

There are many that want to be layed off after working for this organization for many years. The bank should do the right thing and give us the choice to go and let the less tenured folks keep their jobs.

I worked there for almost 20 years before leaving for greener pastures. "Big Layoffs Soon" was always a true statement! I wasn't ever laid off, but still very stressful wondering if I would be with a family to support.

I think those mid-level useless managers actually post this thread to scare their direct reports to come in and be quiet. If not for the compliance of the direct reports, the mid-level twerp manager would be out of a job….

@a9+1jgm5yth1 - actually, pre-Covid (every year since NationsBank bought BofA in 1998, so 1998-2019ish) layoffs were quarterly with the largest cohorts every March and Sept. (and until the mid-aughts, paid out 3 weeks for every year of service -- sweet!)

If anyone is facing a layoff and prefers to stay, let me know and I'll gladly step in to take your place and save your seat.

I'd get 18 months + benefits. Sign me up!!!

Feels likes this gets mentioned every month. The last round was Nov right before Thanksgiving and then someone shared we'd see some in Dec/Jan in global tech I'm not sure if it's just B6/B7 effected or if it's going to B4 & 5 too

In the past (pre-Covid), when RIFs were an annual occurrence, it was typically in spring - usually April. Maybe they will do them earlier this year before bonuses or Sharing Success awards kick in. Can't take any despicable acts like that off the table with this bank and it's "leadership".

What area? I can’t see that they have the people to lay off right now without having no one left to do the work….
