Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

First full week of RTO in Dallas and ..

there's a 35%/50% chance of snow Thurs/Fri. Can't make this up. So let me guess employees will magically be able to work remotely this week because last time it snowed it shut the city down 🤣

snow will not cancel any soccer practice or visits to costco during the work day.

If you die in a wreck on the way to work you don't get severance.

Nope, you will have the take the time off without pay. That’s what they made us do last year during an ice storm that snowed us out for a week and a half. It was either come into the office or don’t get paid. We were not allowed to use PTO or sick time. What a fun year it was with that and the strike. NOT!

“ I don’t like RTO either, but this is what I heard. There is “some” minor flexibility and that is determined by your chain of command.”

The issue for the majority is the company wants the flexibility to work for them NOT YOU.

You must beg for the flexibility from them, they will demand the flexibility from you.

Corey A directly stated that if a situation arises where you need to WFH it’s still allowed. He also stated that it would be handled by our individual orgs and to simply communicate the heed to your manager.

They make me use a vacation day for that.

Stop it, there is no snow in the DFW forecast for the next 10 days

Someone hadn't been checking the GFS model. Perhaps you should rely less on those free weather apps and do a little science 😂

It rarely snows in DFW, we usually get sleet and ice which then freezes and makes the roads undriveable, even if we do get snow it usually melts b/c the ground temp is too warm here and then it refreezes overnight and you have an ice skating rink for a highway.

“So if the office is closed, I’m closed. Snow days once again!”

You are expected to plan ahead as a manager and stay in the office overnight during the storm.

As far as I’m concerned - I’m not ALLOWED to WFH any days a week. Including snow days.

So if the office is closed, I’m closed. Snow days once again!

So I wouldn't have been able to golf while I WFH that day anyway. Oh well.

Actually because the policy is NO WFH you have no ba--s if you don’t say-

“Sorry boss policy says no working from home. I’ll be back when the ice on the bridges thaw. I’m sure the company planned for this when they forced RTO, right?”

People in Atlanta were not stranded due to snow, it was due to ice.

If I cannot make it into work then I am not working. We are not allowed to work from home anymore.

If it snows, I’m working from home. It’s that simple.

I would. Cities in the south (especially Atl) are not prepared for snow. 10 years ago this week, we had thousands of people stranded on Atl highways for days due to snow. If there’s a chance of snow, I wfh. Don’t care what HR says
