Ex sandisk management team (now running micron) is showing their appreciation for the WD people such as Mike and ex WD chief legal officer by hiring them to micron, who made the sandisk acquisition happen at such favorable terms for sandisk.

In 2015 Sqndisk management team faced class action lawsuits and stock was tanking after the horrible fusion io acquisition. The results were not good. For WD to buy them at that time and buy at such favorable valuation, and wait for cash and wait, Sandisk employees getting their stocks vesting immediately….my God this was a total gift that these execs gave to sandisk management team. Otherwise, ex sandisk management team would not have looked like great successes and hired to run Micron.

Mike was in charge of HGST Engineering. He setup groups to go after propietary enterprise while the trend was open source or go in house, what a waste of money. WD/HGST bought Virident for $685 million which turned out to be a total waste.
Mike has no track record or expertise in this business. How Milligan got to be CEO with only a BS in business I’ll never know.

@1as+1jgpf8kgz. HGST was just fine. WD needed OEM drives.

Some incorrect information here. HGST was a great merge for WDC. Milligan and team turned around a losing HDD company into a winner. The move to helium as well executed. HGST was good at OEM and WDC was good at channel. MOFCOM greatly delayed the merge but it was still a good one. The flood happens and then HGST was put in charge. John Coyne was a better CEO than Steve Milligan and from that moment the ship started to slowly go off track with the ultimate bad decision to buy Sandisk. Mike Cordano can rightfully take credit for a job well done at HGST but not so afterwards.

I like it much more how Steve Milligan supports the catholic church after leaving WD.
There is a calling.

Look at the internal email Micron sent out: “played a key Role in WDs 19B$ acquisition of Sandisk”
As we all know that 19B is now worth 5B
Great job Mike!
