Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Does anybody really see their future here?

I’ve been here for the past four years, and have been working hard on finding another job for months now. I can’t imagine the circumstances in which I would want to stay with WF for any longer. I understand people used to have careers at WF, but it sounds to me like it was the case ages ago. Some veterans I’ve met still have misplaced loyalty or are simply waiting it out until retirement. Most of us who have been with WF for a couple of years are seeing this job only as a stepping stone. Does anybody see any future here? If so, why?

My future with Wells ends by the end of February. Two years of planning has finally worked out. I'm getting out of banking altogether after 25+ years.

Unpopular opinion : Yes I do.

I’m not saying it’s like landing a job at a FAANG type place or the dreamiest job you could ever have. But the place is big enough that you could very well find your dream position

My general everyday experience is the opposite of most posters here. I have yet to get an annual increase under 5%, all other remuneration has been appropriate to me. Maybe I have lower standards, maybe I’ve been lucky or maybe I’m just not all jaded and full of hate for “times past”.

Right now is a season of extreme change here. If you’re an FTE in a Hub, you stand a pretty good chance of coming out of the next year or two in a better position then you are now. Maybe not directly but growth or learning oppofor sure. I’m not advocating for someone to stay and not chase their dreams. Far from it. I encourage employment movement with the goal of finding what you like. I’m also not blind, this isht don’t smell like roses. But it is what it is. Make the best of it or move on, whatever is the best choice for your own psyche or wallet.

Ha! Your future is in your hands, use WFC to position yourself for your next move. Plan on moving on in 24 months and never look back. WFC is not a place to stay long term.

WF is a job, not a career. You don’t get cost of living adjustments or meaningful raises because Charlie makes 30 million in compensation while championing stock buybacks and dividend payouts. We’re all stuck on the bottom rung of a pyramid scheme that enriches Charlie, the board, and already affluent shareholders. Welcome to the wrong end of the oligarchy.

WF was a great place to work and several LOBs. It all came to an end what Shart became CEO.

And before some yahoo says it, no, we didn't all work in retail and many of us had no idea the whole fake account thing was even happening. I never banked with WF and my group was completely unrelated to the scandalridden parts of the company. In any event, it was awesome back in the day. This is why Shart wants to get rid of the old dogs. They knew a time when this wasn't a horrible place to work, and they might shed some light for the newbies. Can't have that.

It is a sinking ship. I enjoyed my time here, but due to location strategy and significant outsourcing, I would continue to apply for new jobs.
