Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Morale has nosedived

Volumes are extremely high. Lazy slacker coworkers are tolerated, so be prepared to take on extra work if you're even slightly above average at your job.

Management has failed to staff properly, leading other teams that have no knowledge in our space to assist with the volumes of the understaffed teams, which has led to more errors and time waste.

Bonuses are significantly worse than PI/WI. Raises are horrid too if you're lucky enough to even get one.

Favoritism/nepotism are rampant in FI, but I could probably say that it's not specific to FI. Lol. Our manager is the kid of an executive, and only promotes people within their clique.

Nothing but the truth from @kj+1weydaw4.

Managers in my department seem to just get mad when people bring problems to them. Things could have a solution but they aren’t solved. It’s caused people not bringing things to their attention, causing the problem to be worse. Stress and job dissatisfaction are part of the company culture now.

The pulse survey results were so bad, the company culture definitely has tanked and it’s pretty cut throat to get promoted in my department… which isn’t sales so it shouldn’t be as competitive as it is.

Left Fidelity over 5 years ago. Over half of my team has left since then. Leaders thought they could just manage people out and that there would an endless supply of quality people to choose from. All it did was destroy morale and lower the quality of incoming candidates.

I recently returned to Fidelity in a contract role after being away for over ten years.

Honestly, I am shocked at the change (and not in a good way!). Most of the people that were decent have left and many of those who were useless are still clinging on. The technology has barely moved on but the bureaucracy has gotten worse. Standards have definitely slipped. It seems to me that there are maybe 10% of the people doing 90% of the work. The DEI stuff which was only starting off has now devoured the company. It's created an insufferable working environment!

The lucrative daily rate is the only thing keeping me here, I wouldn't be able to stick it if I was an FTE.
