Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Demand the RTO policy in writing

Notice how the company hasn’t sent out anything official from corporate or updated their policies on HR One Stop?

They think they’re slick trying to do this by word of mouth so it can’t be used against them legally.

Demand the 5 day RTO policy in writing, or it’s just hearsay.

"You can sue anyone for anything, and there is not a contingency lawyer on the planet that does not drool over deep pockets like T."

You need something to sue over, and RTO ain't it. No lawyer will take that on a contingency basis. The litigant will have to pony up lawyer fees, and be prepared to pony up AT&T's legal fees if the suit is found frivolous.

The policy is pretty easy to find with a quick Google search. A direct URL is posted below.

"If you get fired for not being in the office 5x8"

That was always the policy during my 28 years there. While there may have been temporary arrangements due to the pandemic, this doesn't confer on anyone permanent new rights.

What you'll see in writing is warnings, then a final warning, and you'll be dismissed for cause. The only exception I see is, if one was hired before the pandemic as virtual, then I can see a separation for cause attributable to the employer.

It has always been clear that the virtual office for those formerly at work in the office was for pandemic related reasons. Rots of ruck trying to claim otherwise.

Here’s the deal, if you don’t want to RTO.. don’t.

It will all work itself out.

So many AT&T legal department shills telling you you can't sue. Guess what? You can sue anyone for anything, and there is not a contingency lawyer on the planet that does not drool over deep pockets like T. You don't even have to win, you just have to ask for less money than it costs to defend the lawsuit.

Your designation is driven by your occupancy indicator on webphone which is defined on HR OneStop. Not adhering to it is a COBC and subject to termination.

So many legal experts lacking law degrees and basic grammar and spelling skills.

There is no written policy to provide.

You’re an employee at will. They can fire you at anytime and don’t need to tell you why.

You can leave at anytime and don’t need to tell them why.

Who are you to demand a letter in writing. I would laugh at you if I was your boss.

"If you get fired for not being in the office 5x8 it is an easy lawsuit unless the policy applies to everyone"

Um, no its not lawsuit worthy at all. But dont take my advice. Ask an employment lawyer. Think about it. They don't have to pay people the same, let them work the same hours, etc. They don't have to tell you why they are ending your employment.
Even if there isn't an official handbook policy, there must have been some form of communication about rto.

I’ve been saying this all along. Corporate HR Policy is all that matters. If you get fired for not being in the office 5x8 it is an easy lawsuit unless the policy applies to everyone. This POS company cannot just “sweep” targeted individuals under a specific organization and then apply special punitive, policies to those individuals that do not apply to others. Try me. For every written notice of coercion that I receive, I reply with a written response pointing out the inequality of what is being asked. Fire me and see what happens. Their attorney’s are nothing. Their job is to settle quickly.
