Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Leave and do not look back

There is no point staying stagnant for an "easy job" here. The pay is medicore, culture here is non existent, and work in general is pretty bleh. Everyone I speak to is looking to leave.

Its better to challenge yourself and leave on your own rather than stay for an "easy job here" and get laid off and then be scrambling to find a job.

Good advice, @a6+1jgm70rd4.

@gn+1jh24w4q1 or if you're a woman. I was cut because "two men don't like you". No other reason given. HR "investigated". i was cut, the two LL5's are still there.

@gn+1jh24w4q1 Not at FMC. The slackers are still around, hardworking employees were let go because they had a pension, no backfilling was allowed, and now we have more workload per worker. The low performers still are not picking up speed, which puts even more pressure on the remaining workers that actually do their jobs.

So yes, I complain. I complain about the workload, about the stupid decisions coming from HQ, about my salary.

It all works itself out. The slackers get let go. The complainers get let go. The low performers get let go.

Say whatever you want here, but if you've got it coming, you probably won't do anything to change that or make yourself more valuable to the company.

People full of cr-p like you are the cancer to the healthy grow of a company. Sc--w all those hits the thumb down button. I would be glad to see the company wipe you all out on the next round of lay off. No wonder jobs are being shipped somewhere else. You set new bars for lack of motivation and productivity. Shame that you still get a paycheck.

Do just enough to not get fired. milk that money and take a second job; this is the way.

You are missing the point @OP. For many people, what you say rings true, but not for everyone.

The grass is not always greener. You may find, like I had, the perfect position with the perfect manager and the perfect coworkers in the perfect company. Sooner or later, your coworkers will leave or get promoted, same with your manager. The company may be bought by another one, or a change in leadership will change the company values. And that perfect job becomes a mediocre, stressful and boring job.

In my personal experience, you may get a couple of years in the perfect job, then sh-t happens. You may jump around, like I did many times, but the older you get, the harder is to jump ship.

FMC was one of those perfect jobs I mentioned. After a couple of years working here, I got a new LL6, and he was one of the worst managers I ever have. The team scattered away, because people didn't want to deal with that sh---y manager. Yeap! Said goodbye to that perfect job. Even when the manager went away (promoted), the team was broken.

I am eyeing retirement, and age is starting to be the main obstacle to jump ship. Sure, I can still find a job, but I cannot command the same salary. So I am staying at FMC, increasing my savings, and preparing for retirement.

Over my 30 years in the workforce I've learned that your happiness is one of the most important things. I've stayed at Ford - unhappy - because the money was good. Ultimately, it was the wrong choice.

Ford, or any company, will be a better place without cr-ppy people full of negative energy like you.
