Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The only thing we don’t “Guarantee”

…is that we have a place for our employees to sit in our offices. Or parking. Or toiletries. Or job security. Or that we have any integrity. Or that we will provide results from an expensive survey that we promised we would provide to them. Or that they won’t get shivved in a fight over a seat.

"Serious question: why don’t you find another job and quit? Or quit and find another job?"

Have you looked at the job market? Over 155k tech workers laid off in the last 2 years. Read LinkedIn. People with great experience and resumes taking 1 to 2 years to find a new job. Half of Amazon tech staff looking for a new job.

I'd say maybe you are super talented and wouldn't have a problem getting a new job. But then, you wouldn't be working for AT&T, so the reality is that you are probably sitting in your mom's basement waiting for her to bring you another dozen donuts and a Yoohoo while you troll this forum while waiting for the new game to download (bought with mom's money) on Steam.

For the record, yes, I work for AT&T. I've been with the company almost 20 years and I've stayed because for about 10 of that I was fully remote. Before COVID I was in the office 1, maybe 2 days a week and the only one that really cared was my supervisor, who didn't really care.

The plus side of AT&T is that if I worked hard during my 8 to 9 hours, everyone was thrilled with my performance. I didn't go make "the big bucks" at Google, Microsoft or Amazon because I didn't want the 60 to 80 hour weeks and high stress. I focused on my family instead. With full (or mostly) remote, its been a pretty good gig. I'm staying now because the money is still decent, I'm almost to MR75, and anywhere else I go is going to want me in the office, too. But that still doesn't mean I think Stankey and Legg are liars and doing a terrible job. Believe it or not, some of us are capable of calling out Stankey and Friends for being id--ts while still taking their money.

Enjoy your Yoohoo!

" Another adult complainer."

They're going to keep coming John.

Maybe until you learn that expecting to have a place to sit is not an unreasonable request of one's employer.

Serious question: why don’t you find another job and quit? Or quit and find another job?

America isn’t a Japanese internment camp if you don’t like where you’re working, just go do something.

Great post OP. America is watching this forum as RTO unfolds at AT&T. Save those pictures, videos and correspondence emails.
