Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

T Stock has had a tough run the last few weeks . . .

It is down more than 5% since its 12 month high at the beginning of December. I wonder what the market knows that the rest of us don't know yet?

You’re focusing on ATT stock without recognizing that the entire market has performed the same if not worse over the same time period.

It was an end of year sell of for tax purposes.

Normal.

I am an employee who day trades. There are so many great stocks that perform far better than T. If you’re buying it for the dividend, you’re a very conservative investor who is missing out on making a lot of money on other stocks. In other words, I would never put my money in T. You gotta be stooooooped.

A dividend yielding stock has, as it competitor, bonds, like treasury bonds. As interest rates rise on bonds, which can be a more secure investment, the dividend payers like T could suffer.

Interest rates going up which makes our dividend less attractive.

"Markets are cyclical. Nothing unusual."

It depends on how long the cycle is. This is the longest down cycle for ATT since it got hit with the lead sheathing investigation 18 months ago.
