Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO has been a final straw for me

I have been unhappy with T job for a while now. RTO was a final push. I started looking for other opportunities instead of thinking for months on end whether I should. The decision was influenced partly by the commute, partly due to rising personal expenses, and partly by the conditions at the office—no real way to focus or get the job done. But the most significant factor was the foolishness and futility of it all.

You still can’t find another job that means you are not good enough.

“ All corporations are the same”

Certainly the “Fortune 100” ones are. In fact, they too are “led” by globalist minded “dark triaders”.

“ Congrats! You’re doing exactly what they want you to do.”

And that’s fine. I’m not going to stick around and continue to be treated like garbage in dying business. A lot of better options out there. I don’t have a pension, so no need to stick around. I’ve got other options and am not stuck here. You’ll see that more and more as the younger workers leave. Enjoy the extra work.

All corporations are the same. If they are on the stock market and have a board of directors, they answer to black rock. The new most important part of corporations now is changing the culture.

“As the workforce becomes reduced those left behind will have more responsibilities and increased scope of work.”

This has been a needed change for years. T has been bloated for a long time.

Got 2 more interviews next week, so I’ll be gone pretty soon. Both fully remote.

As the workforce becomes reduced those left behind will have more responsibilities and increased scope of work. You can thank Ratty & Pajama Stank for the demise!

Good luck. Another Fortune 500 company will be the same. A smaller PE firm? Be prepared to work in a way you’ve never worked before (if you’ve only worked at T or other large companies that operate like a communist country) and for a lot of volatility; eg: layoffs without warnings, no cost of living raises, bonus heavy salary structures and so on

Not trying to be negative but just know if you leave for another mastodon it will be much of the same and if for some reasons your skills can be scaled and used in a smaller business (not all can) get ready for massive culture shock and little to no job security.

I sincerely wish you luck.

"it’s the mad rush to work only to not have a a proper workstation that is asinine."

And all that is within control of the company. It is really sad.

Same. I can take my time looking and there is still plenty of hybrid work out there. Despite the commute time and additional expenses, it’s the mad rush to work only to not have a a proper workstation that is asinine.

Same! Don’t be afraid of change. There are companies that treat their employees better. Not to mention T has set the bar amazingly low. Set a goal as to how many applications you’ll fill out daily and recruiters you’ll connect with on LinkedIn. Pretty soon the nightmare of working at AT&T will be behind us.

The bootlickers will say “good riddance” but don’t realize their workload is about to 3x as this happens much more in the coming months.
