Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Post Layoff support

Does HR give enough details about state employment claim process or we have to do all the research?
Same question on the SUB. How was that process? Too complex to follow or pretty straightforward?
Can we continue to contribute to 401K and HSA during the SUB period?

Serious answers only please

The separation communications are pretty good. You’re on your own for the state unemployment

Transfer your HSA to something like Fidelity to avoid outrageous fees from the wokesters at healthequity. In fact, even if you're not fired, I'd avoid the BK HSA all together and utilize a cheaper one.

No 401K, yes HSA. Unemployment is pretty straight forward, but follow the instructions they give you closely. It is NOT severance it is SUB. If you say yes to severance you will lose your unemployment. You should have (or will) receive a document with all this info, save it and memorize it. You will not be able to get in touch with a human, that's not really a bad thing.
Hope this helps.

If you’re using commuter benefits turn payments off and move balance to your commuter card - otherwise you’ll lose what’s in this account.

No contributions to 401K since you are not employee and not working here any longer. Your HSA CAN be contributed to. Even to the max amount allowed annually for the HSA

You need to research your state unemployment process. The info they provide on SUB is clear enough but definitely attend one of the info session calls they will offer. No contributions to your 401k Don’t know about HSA.

Sorry, any state unemployment process is not HRs responsibility. One can get SUB and unemployement btw. Certain SUB recipients cannot contribute to either 401K or HSA. Good luck.
