Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

BYOD

Can anyone share what BYOD actually gives access to from your own personal device? What privacy are we giving up when doing this process

If you're worried about leaking your personal data, get a drop phone for work purposes and only use it for work convenience. Problem solved.

So many lies. WF cannot access everything on your phone. They have limited access to performance information. Anything else is limited to WF apps.

If someone has definitive proof that Wells can grab your photos or read your texts, I would suggest calling a lawyer now. This would be the mother of class action lawsuits and fines. The terms of BYOD are clearly laid out. Violating those terms would be a big no no.

You will lose administrative rights to your phone. Do not do it! The company can afford to give you whatever device you need to perform your job duties.

I am a former employee who worked with the blue team as part of incident response. If you BYOD you forfeit your right to privacy. Don’t let anyone fool you there is software installed on every machine in the company (CrowdStrike) that allows us to see your screen, home network, connected devices, ssids and pivot from one device to another. While most of us respect your privacy some folks don’t, just keep that in mind.

Wf doesn’t have the technical ability to monitor everything on its own systems nor the man power. Significant issues in log aggregation, storage, and monitoring. No way they will be on your device given this. Now, the legal side of it is another story

Worth just using an old iPhone as your BYOD device for all of that stuff? Convenience and completely air gapped from any person info.

@db Why would they care where you personal/BYOD phone is? It's not their responsibility or concern.

Go sell paranoia on Faux News, not here.

It gives them access to everything on your phone. Including emails, call records, internet usage, basically everything on your phone.

I have a BYOD iPhone. I've played games and visited p0rn sites via the personal side of the device...sometimes during work hours (gotta love WFH). Never received a nastygram from management for it. So either they are as freaky as me, or they are unaware.

I have outlook, RAS auth and you can get to the intranet via the WF installed browser.

FYI, Microsoft Authenticator allows for tracking of your phone. So nice of them to force us to download it.

Make sure you disable remote reset of your work profile password.
Then change the work profile password.

Your phone can be subpoenaed and private messages not associated with the bank be read. Has this happened? My understanding is yes it has.

Yeah, a multi-billion dollar company can provide me with a work computer. I’ll pass on that super cool offer of BYOD. Lol

Knowing Wells Fargo is one of the biggest criminal companies in the industry, I would never trust or use BYOD.

You gain access to as much or as little as you want based on the apps you install. Install the RSA soft token and MS Authenticator and that’s all you get. No wells resources at all. Install outlook, teams, OneNote, edge, and whatever apps they publish and you can do your job from your phone. End of the day you give up no privacy. No more than any other app you have installed from any publisher anyways.

It sets ups a separate "work" virtual phone on your phone...you literally have to select work or personal to access apps. The disclosure states they have no access to the personal apps or data.

Read the agreement. As I recall, it gives Wells Fargo access to potentially EVERYTHING on your phone including photos, etc. I don't think it is a good idea to do.

The only BYOD "installs" on my phone are the RSA Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator, neither of which are WF owned, developed, or sourced/delivered.
