Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I came on board recently

And here I am, already thinking of leaving. This is my third bank, and it’s almost comical how the same issues repeat everywhere: passive-aggressive management, pressure to perform, unrealistic expectations, tedious processes, toxic work environment, constant layoff threats, and, of course, meaningless meetings that disrupt everything. At this point, switching careers might be the best choice for my mental well-being.

This industry always had problems, but today its beyond unbearable. We have people running banks today who shouldn't be in this business, let alone running it! The incompetence is absolutely astounding! The DEI movement for the past few years was nothing but the final tombstone on the grave. My prediction is that this industry is in for some huge shakeup in the near future. 2008-9 is going to look like cake walk compared to what's coming.

I’ve been trying to leave since my first 4 months at this bank. Been here nearly two years at this point.

I know you haven’t outlined your career timeline / speed at which you switched between the 3 banks … but tbh the sector in the past 3 years has been pretty sh-t haha.

For most of us on this path, it’s a consideration of weathering through until things pick up again or making a call and moving to a more specialist financial services firm (medium-sized fish in a small pond) - up to you what you’d rather do tbh. Finding a job in this climate can’t easy tho so good luck either way
