Displacement

Can you ask your manager to displace you if you are currently not on a displacement list?

"Employment is at will and if you do not like WF, you can leave."

I'll take option 3. I don't like WF and I won't leave unless they pay me a years worth of severance for it. Think I can't play the game? I can stay out of trouble. It's not hard. I could retire, but I won't. That POS in his ivory tower doesn't get what he wants. This is what he gets when he fires good people and lies about it. F him. Does he care? Maybe not, and that's fine, so long as he writes those severance checks.

If they know you want to leave they will not lay you off. They will displace someone else, and pile on you until you quit. A two-fer for them.

Actually they may stop layoff for this quarter because after bonus there will be increase in Employee attrition . Already in my team folks left in December for remote opportunities . Charlie may need to pay more to hire qualified folks in 2025 or he may leave this chaos taking his promised bonus money .

How is your relationship with your manager? I had a friend go to them and say “hey if you need to cut go ahead and cut me to save one of the younger guys”. He has been laughing his a-s off for the last 6 months and has 8 more to go before his severance ends.

HR won't listen to manager if he/she recommends. They would ask to fire you to save the severance. Be careful . You must focus on the work . Employment is at will and if you do not like WF, you can leave.

@aeg… I’ve reviewed all the FAQ. It’s not on there.

No, you can't volunteer or ask to be displaced. It is right in the FAQ that it isn't allowed

I think @a1 is a troll response, but I'm about to try the same. I was told that I would probably go in May. I made plans, I had a countdown calendar. Now my boss said he might have "saved" my position until next year.

Fu-k.

Yes, you can. Your manager will honor your request.
