Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Michigan clubs

Question, what clubs are experiencing discrimination from their management team towards elders as well as long term associates? Have they targeted these associates and fired them for little to no reason? There is gonna be a huge lawsuit soon so we are just trying to grasp if this is a club issue or the entire market. Also when if this did happen in your club when did it start? New management, new market manager?? Comment and leave info if you have some.

Finally an investigation against the management team. All of the truth will come out and I hope they get held accountable for everything they have done. Us associates documented everything, you can't lie now... Good luck 👍 Hope you managers like being fired like all of us were.

Yes , it has been happening in Novi Michigan. A lot of long term associates have been run out and older workers. People with special needs are not welcome to work there, the ones we had were bullied out. Very sad. Most of the management staff do not care about the associates , no respect for the individual. It is a shame that the company will not listen to everyone that has called or emailed.

Unfortunately ageism is a serious matter. This wasn't a concern with previous generations, however we are living longer, working longer and we're healthier than our own parents. Have been with Sam's for over 30 years. Worked with all types of management teams. This current group is the most challenging we have experienced GM's and co-GM's have been careless and overheard asking "why do we hire old people?" (average age for management is 35) It's thought that we are slow, mentally incapable of holding conversation , weak and too nice to handle confrontations. I was up for MSL position against a 20-something person. Just had to go through formalities of the process. The 20-something person looked at me and asked if it would be better for me to apply for door greeter. I previously held a TL position for 15 years. I walked away. Did not get the position due to her concerns. They regret this now. Maybe we should be more concerned about work ethics instead of how old we are. Again this is a growing concern and should be addressed more.

Are these associates spending 90mins per day talking about this discrimination on the clock? Or working?

More like 7 hours 45 minutes.

There are many that are “aging out.” Document everything that is said and done. Age discrimination is illegal, but you’ll need to be able to prove it.

Yes sir I believe that's what they wrote on the employee record when terminated.
'Little to no reason'

This is definitely going on in Michigan. I think is all clubs in area but definitely Southeastern Michigan region. I would name one club for sure but if I do this would be taken down. But near Wixom

When you have as much money and influence as the Waltons do. A campaign donation goes a long way.
