Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'm dreading the weekend ending because work is just relentless

I'm so tired. I work 60+ hours a week, and by the time the weekend comes, I can't even rest properly. I envy those of you who have manageable workloads or can afford to quiet quit without fear of losing your jobs. I don't have that luxury. I need a job with normal hours at a company that treats its employees decently, unlike T, which treats us like cr-p.

Why are you working 60 hours a week. You should be working 40 and then logging off.

Are you paranoid to be laid off...forget about working yourself to an early grave, nobody appreciates it and even if someone does, they need to show you the money!

"grown men" ?? questionable......

Maybe a better description would be "adult age".....

Why don’t you quit then? I mean, this isn’t a Japanese internment camp; go! Leave. Nobody is stopping you.

I have never read more carping and complaining from grown men in my entire life. lol.

Since the move to Dallas started I only put in my 40 hrs. Company does not care about employees so I don’t care about the company. If I get surplus it is what it is. I have a fully vested pension, a 401k, and will get 6 mos severance. I can find another job if need be but this company no longer has a right to my life outside of my 40 hours.

You get weekends ??

So many (millions) working people don't. I'm not talking about desk sitters, I'm talking about actual WORKERS, knuckle busting, back straining, getting bruised and bleeding actual WORK.

I can tell a lot about O.P. from the post. Now run to momm1e and have a good cry....

“ Quiet quitters cause this to. Doing nothing and leaving additional work to everyone else.”

Absolute malarkey. The (dark triad) C suite & their (intentional) toxification of the “culture” are solely to blame. So called “quiet quitting” is simply a response to the aforementioned despotism.

No offense but be a man and set some boundaries. 40 hours and gone. Anything else and you get no pity for inviting this pos company to trample on you.

STOP working yourself to the bone for a company that doesn't give a flying F about you. They will lay you off without mercy when your number comes up, so don't lose yourself over this company.

Reduce hours, look for better employment. Period.

I’m in the same boat as OP. We’ve created this monster, working endless hours last few years. Now with the added hours of commute and VPN becoming a bad word, this is no longer feasible nor sustainable.

I have an idea, get a different job. It is just that simple.

Working harder is just a guarantee you will never move up, as you become indispensable in your role. Network more, work less.

I empathize OP. The team I’m on is similar. I don’t even remember what a normal work week looks like anymore or what it’s like to have days off every week. I wish I could only do my 8 and skate, but that’s not allowed on the team I’m on. My advice is to find another team or company to work for. That’s the only fix. It’s what I’m having to do as well.

We all know a person like this. The overachievers that get the pile on. Sorry dude this isn’t a startup company so you won’t be valued the way you should be. Probably not worth it unless you’ll make VP

Probably a fake post, but ok: OP, ur d-mb. Why give anything other than what they are paying you for? You are being flexible and working extra on your time, yet T is inflexible and requiring you to sit your as5 in the office for 8 hours. What are you getting out of it that you can't get doing your 8, living your designation? You are no longer a flex worker, stop working like one. - Eric Cartman
