Dude, don’t be stupid all your miserable rumor mongering life! There will never be a 5 and 5 and $10k per year offer! You’re just wishful thinking out loud, we get it! Enough, already, that will never happen! This is the SBC culture and run by SBC personnel, not ATT. The ATT executives were far more compassionate and generous when reducing its head count!
Offer is on the way. 5/5 $10k…
To the best of my knowledge at&t has approximately 172400 active employees. A 20% reduction would be 34K. That would leave T with approximately 138K active employees. The attrition rate is about 10K per calendar year. If Santone decides not to layoff, we would be good in three years.
While they're quiet cutting, we're quiet quitting! Makes sense to do so...Even Steven!
Back when T was 'just' 120k large, the employee 'churn' averaged 1200 a month. So -- that's normal attrition, deaths, retirements, firings. This was across Mgmt/Non-Mgmt.
That % remains more or less a constant across T even today. When they choose not to backfill on any of those events, then the # is above and beyond the Churn %.
This is the problem not backfilling and removing empty jobs is not laying people off. It makes it sound like they're cutting people but they're not. They're just not adding or replacing
Only 2500 positions?
"In legacy areas of the company that aren't growing, we manage our staffing needs accordingly, including things like not backfilling positions for employees who leave," the company said
If it is an issue of not backfilling, who cares?
Getting rid of unneeded jobs.
