Tell your boss that the company should pay for it and give you paid time off for studying.

After 10 years in an industry the degree is pointless if you stay in what you do.

JD and working in fraud, my choice, but law degree meant nothing. But worked at a firm for years b/f joining Wells, so my choice.

@a3 look up WF postings for Quantitative Analysts and tell me no position wants a PhD.

@am if you get laid off you could apply to curate a museum, or educate kids about the biological fact that, genetically speaking, there really is no such thing as race.

Does your manager even know you have a master's? Mine only knows because I told her a while ago.

Likely just curious about their employees. People try to read so deeply into the shallow minds of the engineering managers.

I have a PhD in anthropology, but it didn't help my career.

Degrees are overrated. What does it matter if you got a college degree in literature and are a manager in operations. Many folks got worthless degrees from sub par colleges and work in tech, risk, etc. If you are smart, motivated, a continuous learner, have a strong EQ, you can figure out any of the jobs here or learn to do them.

My manager straight up told me my education no longer matters and shouldn't even include it on my resume. I graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's in the field I work in.

There's no position at the company that requires a PhD, not that I'm aware of. Could just be a standard question she asks everyone.
