Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Stayed home most of last week due to driving conditions and it showed . . .

The week before the snow/ice I spent 8 hours/day on the computer working, and 1.5 hours commuting. The week of the storm I was working on the computer on average, 10.5 hours per day, and 0 hour commuting. Good job Stankey -- you have recreated the 40 hour work week with your stupid 5x8 RTO Mandate. You really know how to build culture. What an A$$H4T you are.

It’s not exactly wise to force employees back to the office right before winter, but honestly, what more can we expect from our so-called "great" leaders? we work with what we have right, the era of d-mb leadership ended with Biden its time for corporations to actualize

This does not make much sense. There are many parts of the country where AT&T staff exists and there is never winter weather that impacts travel. Furthermore, T does not care, so why delay the inevitable? Their thought is the sooner 5x8 started the sooner people would start leaving. That way when summer comes, if enough have left, you will be WFH again :)

"No one is trying to build culture!"

But Stankey said he was trying to change the culture. Do you think he is lying to all of his employees about his intent?!

"failure to report to the office as instructed will be recorded."

That is good to know. I guess I am ok since my AVP told his team not to report to the office during the snow/ice event. I am off the hook!

Hate has a platform once again.

Most of the negative comments on this site reflects this.

We’ll see where that takes us.

If there was a major weather event inhibiting safe commutes then of course those who have jobs that allow WFH should have WFH. There will be no terminations as a result so stop the trolling nonsense already.

A good healthy culture at T will be based on trust. Trust between employees (clearly not exhibited on this site but I don’t trust this site to reflect reality) and between leadership/employees (clearly not exhibited in recent times). This trust dynamic should allow for reasonable WFH accommodation and a hybrid RTO/WFH set up like it has in the past. Respect for employee and respect for employer.

Until we get to this two way trust relationship (if we even can) we’ll continue to read all the vitriol spewed against WFH or Hybrid arrangements and harsh mandates coming from leadership will continue.

It’s all in your record. WTF! Your termination is going to happen this. Good job. You like working from home now you can stay there. Enjoy your mom’s basement!

Leadership wants 40 hr a week employees. Do your 40 and be done. I do not give anything more than 40 since RTO. I was asked to do something as I was packing up Wednesday evening and my response was “I will take a look at it tomorrow but I am on my way home”. That is what they get from now on. Take control of your life. Working extra for a company that does nothing for their employees is just stupid. This company is nothing but a paycheck for me for 2 more years and then I retire.

No one is trying to build culture! You need to open your eyes! Don’t miss the “why” behind RTO.

They want you gone, not happy

Why is it your business? Jealous you couldn't work from home?

Just a heads up--the up/down votes are easily manipulated on this site. Consume info on this site with your "gut" and don't let the up/down votes manipulate you.

You are really desperate to convince “someone” to let you WFH. It is not going to happen. Companies/Government are now moving to RTO. The Virus has been over for a couple of years. “Now go Take on the Day” in the office.

More productive at RTO. Too many grocery runs, cleaning clothes, and dealing with kids and animals at home. All while you are online.
