Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I wish we were better organized

We could have all refused to RTO five days. There’s no way they could have laid all of us off or fired us, it’s completely unrealistic. As it stands, we’re stuck complying with a policy that doesn’t work for anyone. It’s been proven to lower productivity, and for what? There’s no good reason whatsoever to justify it.

Amazed at some of the comments on here that presume complying with RTO is just a matter of su-king it up. Can only assume you’re lucky enough to be in a hub and don’t have to move in or comply with an office mandate but that is not the case for a number of your fellow coworkers. Understand this is much bigger than your personal situation and you’re comfortability with a commute - the company is actively downsizing under the guise of an RTO mandate. You can champion it all you want but there are thousands of employees whose lives have been upended who aren’t complaining about getting in a car and getting to the office. You don’t have to care, but you should have a grasp on the bigger picture. Keep the insensitive comments to yourself and go enjoy your time in the office

You can still choose to not Return To Work now. You don’t need help from anyone else to make that choice.

“You don’t need to helped any longer. You’ve always had the power to go back home. Just close your eyes and tap your heels together three times. And think to yourself, 'There's no place like home'.”

Fear keeps everyone divided. That’s by design

Heck, as an IT staff member, even before all this RTO stuff, working with staff members on other teams to solve an issue is difficult enough. Forget trying to get folks to cooperate and work toward a common goal / belief.
