Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Would you go into the office if you were Surplused?

Would you go into the office if you were Surplused and do you think the company can do anything if you didn't come in vs WFH?

Once I received my surplus notice, I just fell of the map

Now you know why I was let go, either I can’t type or spell.

Duh! Yes. I would not want to jeopardize my severance.

I did because I liked my boss and didn’t want them to get the heat over it. That was prior to the 5 days mandate, though.

I would not work at all, let alone go to the office

No, unless you have a horrid person for a manager who wants to extract some kind of revenge, and even then, it's not worth it to them. Once surplussed, they have effectively washed their hands of you and you should do the same.

They already whacked you, they don’t care about the RTO anymore.

Mission accomplished for them. WFH until your release date

Only to return equipment. The company is unlikely to fight that fight for 2 weeks of in-office. If they pull your severance, you will just sue them, and one deposition costs the company more than your severance package. It is a risk, but a miniscule one.

Check with your boss. You don’t want to find out they aren’t giving you severance because you didn’t report to the office and got fired. Your boss may be fine with you wfh during that time, so I’d go by their guidance.

If you received an off payroll date because you opted not to move to Dallas or Atlanta you do not need to go to your existing office. Your new official office is Dallas or Atlanta so yes you can WFH. If you received an off payroll date for a layoff without a relocation scenario involved, then yes, I would go into the office unless you have it in writing from your supervisor that you are exempt. Otherwise T may pull a fast one and terminate you and keep your severance due to non compliance. Do not trust them.

Depends on if they could and would fire you for not doing so. If the X months of continued pay and severence was on the line, I'd have to go to office (until i found other employment).

The first thing to do is give away all your f_&÷& then you don't give a ;@% cause you're all out.
