Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Congratulations John Stankey!

TMobile posted another outstanding quarter and year. Stock is up $17 or 8% on the news. Since Stankey's failed acquisition of TMobile and penalties paid to TMobile of billions in cash and spectrum in just 12 years T-Mobile stock has increased 10+ fold while ATT's share price has gone down during the same time frame. Stankey is master at creating value in the Wireless and Telecom space.

Why was there a breakup fee when the deal didn't happen? No deal, no breakup, right?

I'm just upset because the guy that used to work for me 15 years ago that left to go to TMO is filthy stinking rich as a middle manager. You can do this when you get regular stock options, and the stock has appreciated like 1000%. You should see this dude's house!

I did similar mistake as well! My colleague left AT&T and joined back in early 2010 and got free shares. He is still working there in leadership level and a multi millionaire now!

Funny part is that TMO did not request or require a breakup fee. Randall and Stankey were so convinced the acquisition was a slam dunk, they offered the breakup fee with a boatload of spectrum. Just the same arrogance that we are used to seeing from Stankey.

Stankey / Stephenson, whatever. The amaze ba--s thing is not only were they not held accountable in any way for the failed acquisition attempt, but like, what about literally ANYONE else involved in that from Legal, M&A teams, etc.

Why pays a company $4 Billion dollars to NOT buy them? And then gives them a bunch of precious RF spectrum to boot?

It's unfathomable.

Tmobile headcount is less than 70k and they are mobility only- right? So they have no where near the over head that T or VZ have to carry. Plus minus all the labor cost, benefits like pension.

Before anyone starts patting themselves on the back for getting out of Time Warner, etc., don't forget the real reason for all this change. 2019 Elliot management activism. Demanded all this. Only reason we decided to get out of everything, Randall gone, etc. You think this arrogant company was going to really make those changes on their own? If so, let me smoke some of what you've got! P.S. Our Board approved all this b.s. too

Stankey tried to acquire T-Mobile? Wow, that was bold.

"Hey genius…Stankey wasn’t CEO"

Stank was second in command. If you do not think he had any input into those failed decisions then either you are an id--t or Stank is the most disrespected person ever. I believe it is both. And, btw, Stank was totally in command when he tanked TW with his business decisions -- all of which were reversed when he no longer managed that company.

Stankey has been a key player in every poor decision that put us here. He insisted on being a key player as a matter of record. I've had to live with his poor choices for a very long time. Theses decisions weaken the nation and my personal future. thanks to this magnificent ba----d, I'velost at least 150,000 in promised money for the future.

You're a poor example Stankey. I'm glad I didn't bid a couple thousand on that charity golf outing with you back in 2004-2009? You're actually insufferable to be around ^&÷<# you.

Don't be fooled, it was all Stankey, I was there, he imposed his will on leadership for all of these bad decisions and he continues to this day, look at how T was last with FWA

Stankey has been head of strategy forever. Randal was a front man who was easily swayed by Johns Bull in A China Shop personality. Stankey has cost shareholders dearly but will play the hero role simply by cutting heads. There is no growth story with ATT. Fiber is going to be a margin pressured business at the most aggressive level.

Stankey had his hands on the controls far more than Randall during the debacles of TMobile, DTV, and Time Warner MA activity. Stankey cost shareholders hundreds of billions.

Hey genius…Stankey wasn’t CEO during the TMO attempted acquisition. He had nothing to do with it at all. Nor did he have anything to do with the Directv or Warner media deals. You can blame him for other things but the 3 things that put T into the massive debt were not on his watch.

Wasn’t that during Randy’s time?
Sprint complained to FCC.
Sprint acquired by SoftBank (that name sound familiar?)
Sprint goes bankrupt.
T-Mobile acquires Sprint for 4 Billion.
