Good luck, you’ll need it. I called and spoke to them as a current employee before off payroll and every single thing they told me was wrong. And after I got laid off it was a huge fight to get it fixed.
If in NJ, make sure you attend the unemployment call.
I can say my after surplus heath benefits have been a mess (and try to get through to Benefits center is a 1 hour process of IVR he-l - push this button, push that button... finally get to a human and they either hang up or you get disconnected... they WANT you to get tired of calling in so you dont proceed to get your insurance. Meeting with Surplus representative before hand is good advice.. but take it from me who has been dealing with this for 2 months now - THe benefits center, and company they have handling this is TERRIBLE! I finally got to a "Caring" supervisor who even admitted their system in terrible! Long story short.. after speaking to a benefits "Surplus Rep" before leaving, and still afterwards having my benefits come up as "No Coverage" (I am supposed to get 6 months at company subsidised rate) - yesterday I finally got it worked out... so, basically if you worked 13 years+ for the company you get the 6 months company subsidized (the rate you paid while employed) for "Medical" you have option to take all of the other insurances (Dental, vision, Careplus, etc) for me and spouse Dental is $113 per month, vision is $32 per month, Careplus $3.06 per month - AND you will continue to receive your life insurance and AD&D insurance for the 6 months for you and for 3 months for your spouse at no cost... it took me 2 months to get this all straightened out and get it done I HOPE none of you are going through this! the benefits center is TERRIBLE for surplussed employees! it should be illegal what they are doing .... the cost after the 6 months is crazy expensive... medical-$1800 / Dental-$250 / vision was about same (so will likely keep that because it is a good plan - but fully expect to go to health market place when my company subsidized plan expires - Hope this helps! good luck everyone!
You can get Cobra Dental and Cobra Vision. The dental was around $24 a month and the vision around $4 a month. It will probably take 30 days or more to get signed up for that and the company extended health insurance coverage. Source-my severance date was 12/13 and that is the coverage.
You wouldn’t have these questions if HR and their stupid attorneys didn’t give you the b-ms rush during the layoff meeting. Yes, you will get your same insurance coverage and premiums for six months. After which if you are also retired you can opt in for retiree vision and dental. Jump on healthcare.gov after six months to find better coverage for about the same or less premiums than you pay now. Be prepared for games month over month with bills going up and down for no reason. On your last month of coverage remove the autopay option so they don’t try to charge you the higher cobra amount.
In the meantime, relax, be happy. There are plenty of jobs out there making what you are making now in a hybrid arrangement in a luxury office. Don’t sweat it, you’ll be fine.
You should have a session with HR to ask questions. Did they not schedule anything? Ask your HR person.
If you are rule 75 eligible.. make sure you take the $500 for your retirement party . You also get a retirement gift.
Make an appt with a surplus HR rep. Very helpful.
Upon layoff you have no income. Apply for Obamacare and let everyone else subsidize your healthcare.
The information you’re looking for is available on HR one stop. Search for the management severance policy. There’s a grid in there that shows you what you get in for how long you get it.
i left in October and was Medicare eligible. Assuming your spouse is not Medicare eligible. You get 6 months of CEC at the employee rate for Medical, after that you get Cobra for 12 months and after that the retiree rate ~ $858/mo if you meet the Modified rule of 75.
IF you meet the modified rule of 75 you can buy dental and vision at the retiree rate (not subsidized but not a bad price for me $31.28/mo). As i was medicare eligible I do not know the family rate
I left last July.. if benefits have not changed since then, you get 6 months of subsidized medical insurance.. so you pay the same group rate of what you normally would pay. After that timeframe, you can continue to get medical insurance via cobra but you’ll pay the entire amount, which is quite high tbh.
There is no coverage for vision and dental.. that stops I think EOM of your surplus date.
Check with your supervisor.
not sure why post got cut off, my question is do I get 6 monthly of Benefits after Surplus, does that include Vision and Dental and what is cost, same as I pay before surplus ?
